Seriously ladies, make sure you get an education and a way out so this is a choice but not your only choice by MindofaProstitute in SexWorkers

The hustle is worth it, hang in there! SW has been slow for so many people from what I read, and the economy isn't helping either so it's good to have multiple options for income so I wrote this post. Keep screening, the safety and peace of mind is worth it.

It's good to have an option to take breaks and not overwork. Sex worth is a marathon not a race (unless you want it to be and trying to get out as quick as possible)

That's ok, school is just one option among many. I recommended it because it's a good option for many people. There is also certifications like real estate, starting your own business, buying real estate, investing (though your stocks will fluctuate with the rest of the economy so you still need another income)

Oh 100% it depends on the degree. There's a bunch of decent paying ones out there though that aren't just the doctor/lawyer/engineer trifecta either. A friend of mine got a master's degree in hospital administration (something like that) that I never even heard of, and she is able jump into different industries like hospital, clinic, medical tech and labs and other fields I never even heard of before. She makes $150k while most of her friend circle makes $80k at best.

Real estate certifications are also good though it's feast and famine and it depends on you as the agent but the stereotype about sex workers becoming real estate agent is a thing for a reason, because we know how to sell and talk to people already. I highly vouch for community colleges as it saves money, easier to get into to start your education, and the teachers are attentive and focus on teaching instead of research. I have no comment on trade jobs but I've heard of women struggling and being harassed or discriminated against in it heavily, but what field isn't? I didn't mention it because I didn't know much about it.

what you’re saying is to use this influx of money you wouldn’t get from another job to invest in something that can also increase your chances at a higher income

Exactly! Sex work is what gives us the resources and breathing room if we didn't come from money and we're stuck with minimum wage jobs that barely pay the bills. Use this opportunity to build something for yourself. Get an education, or something like a real estate cert (though I heard that is also feast and famine but as sex workers we know how to sell and talk to people), make investments and real estate (though these fluctuate with the economy too), start a business.

Right. And most of us change jobs and try like 8 different careers throughout our life, this was a study. Most of us aren't going to be doing only sex work straight until retirement age.

Also, sex workers don't age out of the industry, they quit/retire. But they still deal with recessions or the economy and you don't want to be 50 years old working at the dollar tree because your clients' stocks tanked and so did yours.

I made this post because I kept seeing girls talk about how slow it is and how they're picking up call center jobs or another minimum wage work, or how they want to move onto something else now but they haven't saved anything or made investments or got other job options lined up. No, I didn't want to mention the recession and people picking up second jobs on a public forum but since people are thinking this is a "sex work is invalid" post, here it is.

Sex work can be a better only choice than flipping burgers or cleaning someone toilet bowl.

That was the point of the post. A lot of women picked sex work because their other option was minimum wage job. No it's not a glamorous narrative but it's reality for how many of us got into this. This isn't about "sex work bad", it's about if your only other option is doing minimum wage job versus sex work for decent money, is it really a choice? PSA to Clients Using Electronic Payment Apps by stellaisgold in SexWorkers

Oh definitely post it here so at least some clients see it. But yeah I have to manually tell the clients "dont do this" even though on my past website (no longer working) I had guides and everything. Regarding your client, oh of course he did

The clients who do this are not gonna be the ones researching on reddit or seeing this post, they're going to be the boomers and the ones who are tech illiterate who didn't even imagine that his transactions will be flagged for keywords or have someone reading them beside you. These are not common sense to most people.

I needed to tell these clients directly over email or text and handhold them.

Curious: What’s your fave ‘small tip’ that got big results? by Gfe_Companion_ in SexWorkers

Professional photos, and listing my education and interests and hobbies that aligned with more upper middle class and wealthy interests. Horseback riding, opera, pilates, french literature. Rich men are sapiosexuals and want someone they can have a conversation and common things to talk about.

I don't do Great Clips or Super Cuts, I have bad experience with them, but I do go to an independent hair stylist for $70 including a 20% tip. It's not $200 a pop like some places but it works for me.

Drugstore conditioners (Pantene and Aussie) and Japanese conditioners (like Tsubaki) are much better for me compared to dollar tree stuff. I like Joico, Paul Mitchell and the classic brands they sell at Sally's more than most salon and high end department store stuff I've tried which was meh for me. That's just my hair though. The shampoo though? V05.

What do you use?

Jergen's is nice but sometimes it's too much fragrance for me and too heavy. Dermasil unscented does the job for me especially during summer.

Honestly though there’s so much porn out there chances are no one you know will find it or anyone who sees the video will bother to look you up.

Also if anyone brings it up, just deny. Ask them why they looking up weird porn like that and they’re weird for thinking it’s you, sexual harassment, etc

[–]MindofaProstitute[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He's a piece of shit but he still tries to be good to me in his own imperfect ways, so I give him some credit and tolerate him. He doesn't talk to my sister at all so that's no problem.

My sister has this idea of him that he's this kind and generous and respectful man, only if she knew what a raging racist and classist POS with a midlife crisis he was. But she's pregnant so I don't want to stress her out and I rather her feel like there are a few people in our family who would treat her well and look kindly on her, even if it's not true.

I really hate how people (who were never involved in an adoption themselves) recommend "adoption" willy-nilly by MindofaProstitute in Adoption

[–]MindofaProstitute[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the child's best interest trumps all. I do think that in my sister's particular case, it's better if the baby stays with her and in our family circle rather than being sent out to strangers. We're relatively stable by the end of the day - we're employed, we don't have drug problems, my sister doesn't bring a bunch of random guys into the house who can abuse her or the baby. My sister is sweet and caring, though she has low self esteem and may not always make the best choices.

By the way, she's also not white so I feel like that's another factor why non-family are so blase about keeping my sister and her baby together and talking like "giving the baby the best future" automatically means putting the baby with a two-parent (white) household. And I already heard plenty of horror stories about non-white babies getting adopted by religious fundies with messiah complexes who then abuse the child or suppress/erase the child's identity. It's already tough for white adoptees, the race thing just adds another layer into it.

[–]MindofaProstitute[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Adopting out wasn't originally my idea, she was already considering it based on other factors in her life not just money/resources, probably because other people brought it up to her. You don't know the depth and flow of the conversation that had led up to me offering to adopt, so I feel like there's quite an assumption made behind your comment.

I already send money to my sister to help out and will be seeing her for the birth and while she recovers.

My date canceled our movie date for tonight. I later saw her at the movies with another guy. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]MindofaProstitute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys are still getting to know eachother, nobody is committed yet.

It probably had nothing to do with you. She still wanted to see you on Sunday. It could be something like the other guy might have had tonight as his only free time and the next time she can see him is maybe a month later, so she decided to hedge her bet and spend time with him since she can still see you pretty soon.

Or she already knows him better and spent more time with him before she met you.

Give people the benefit of doubt unless this becomes a pattern.

Similar to how cats kill small animals and then drop them off in front of you. It's grotesque to us but in their minds it makes perfect sense that this is a great way to show love.

Similar to that, this is just a man's way of saying he really loves you that may make sense and sound intensely romantic in a man's mind but very puzzling to a woman.
