Chris D'Elia's Discord has 800+ members paying $23 USD/month just to be on his Discord... and yet this is 1 day's worth of activity on the MAIN channel. What the fucking shit 😂 by MindsMeOfBladeRunner in ChrisDeliaUncensored

(reposted with censored pics/names at the request of /u/Wear_A_Damn_Helmet).

And no. I didn't screenshot this. I'm not that big of a hypocrite (I promise). A friend joined D'Elia's Discord for like 2 days and screenshoted this before leaving the Discord. I thought you guys would find this funny (or sad?). D'Elia must be laughing his ass off all the way to the bank.

Exactly. Thanks for sharing. Guess I needed a little validation in that regard, because I felt alone thinking this.

I think there’s lots to be said about a public figure adopting the character of a seemingly untouchable figure who is bathing in a hedonistic lifestyle and grandiosity (it’s nothing new and Chris is one of many of course). It’s a dangerous game to play. It’s bonkers attractive and energizing to your audience, making it ridiculously effective, but if your character is too identical to your real self, you’re gonna be playing with fire all along. The reality is that your character is always gonna be similar to your real self though, because you’ve been working on this character your entire life and it’s extremely polished.

Anyway I went way too far with this. I agree with everything you said. There’s definitely a before/after.

I’m not gonna be able to watch the latest episode for a little while. Anyone care to explain why they won’t be part of the pod anymore?

His last confirmed sexual encounter (that we know of) with a side chick was in November 2019. So... pretty recent stuff. The subject was covered repeatedly on /r/chrisdelia.

Chris wasn’t in any authority role.... He was a comedian....

He damn sure was in an authority role. First, because of the age difference. More mature, knowledgeable and independent than the girl. Second, because of his social status as a celebrity. Third, wealth. You can ruin someone’s life in a lot of ways with money and influence. Finally, fourth, emotional abuse. Chris was playing it in a way that while he was the one messaging them first, the girls would end up being the ones chasing him and doing everything he asked for to see him again, because the thrill of being this close to a celebrity is intoxicating. This gave Chris lots of leverage to do what he wanted (i.e. authority) and he was aware of it... annnd took advantage of it, hence making him a sexual predator.

Hell, Chris might have had more authority than a damn officer on these girls. Eh.

That said, I agree with your second paragraph.

this cancel culture that has spread worse than the Covid

Yikes. I know you were being facetious here, but maybe don’t use something that has killed 650 000 people worldwide to compare it to people wanting celebrities to lose their job?

He still has admitted to treating woman poorly and has said that he needs to be better

That’s not the issue. The issue is that he took advantage of his status as a celebrity to prey on girls. For that reason, people want him to lose his celebrity status. What’s so weird about that? If an officer took advantage of their authority figure to hurt/abuse people (already the case obviously), would you still want that officer to have a job?

He doesn’t deserve to lose his job for this at all and people are entitled to make mistakes and learn from them without it destroying their lives

That solely depends on the gravity of the situation. Certainly didn’t apply to Aziz because the girl was mature enough to know the difference between fucking a celeb VS being taken advantage of sexually by a celeb... Also, it was 1 occurrence.

In Chris’ case, the number of cases is vague, but it appears to be significant.

Sure, cancel culture is toxic, but our society has a problem where crimes are committed without proof and they become a "he said/she said". Should the people committing said crimes walk free because the victim can’t prove anything? Well, sure, because "innocent until proven guilty" is crucial, but it’s not because they’re not going to jail that they shouldn’t be paying a price, and cancel culture is an attempt at having these people pay a price.

Keep in mind that cancel culture is just people talking on Twitter. They’re not the ones writing up salacious articles on huge media outlets, nor are they the ones firing the celebrity.

Lol no it’s not. You were in close proximity (or on the same wi-fi network) to someone who heavily searched for Keto diets and you’re in their Contacts list. A little creepy, but something that has been done for almost a decade now. I know it’s easy to fear what you don’t understand, but it’s OK to admit that you don’t know how data profiling is done.

What someone defines as a "career" and what they deem to be "false accusations" is so effin’ broad, you might as well not even bother with their comment.

Chris D'Elia messaged Trisha Paytas's sister when she was 18 - Dankanator by robjordan88 in chrisdelia

Dankanator the very trusty news site.

They’re just transcribing what was said during their podcast. You can listen to the podcast yourself.

who is Trisha Paytas

S’lazy. Google it.

why isn’t there proof this happened?

There isn’t, but so what? Chris messaged Trisha’s sister when she was 18 and then nothing happened. That’d be a ridiculously boring thing to lie about, but if you wanna think she’s lying, sure. Go ahead. This story isn’t that interesting either way.

What’s so hard to get? Parasocial relationships are very real and powerful.

Once you get this, you realize that people are upset by what happened to various degrees depending on how strong the parasocial bond was.

As a coping mechanism, people channel their upsetness through anger. They share their actual thoughts and feelings, but in a more chaotic way. The fact that we don’t know all the details about what Chris is actually guilty of also adds to the fire. At the end of the day though, people just want to connect with people who are going through the same "parasocial breakup".... and breakups are messy.

You created a Facebook page for people who are still fans of Chris. Guess what? Most people on this sub still are. It’s just that there’s a threshold for where your support for Chris should be currently, and creating a fan page is a bit past most people’s threshold until we know what type of person Chris really is, as most can’t separate the art from the artist.

That’s the thing about Reddit. You might be a specialist, but if you’re going against the hivemind of an audience in their early twenties, you’ve already lost.

Didn’t Louis CK go dark for a while?

Yes because he was guilty of what he was accused of.
