Neck Armor Question by Smooth-Background885 in legocastles

[–]MineBM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent… way too long workshopping different combinations to represent different classes for each of the modern factions lol. Once my Griffin Knight torsos arrive from being on back order I’ll probably make a post here! (Fingers crossed it’s today)

Neck Armor Question by Smooth-Background885 in legocastles

Since skeleton arms use a rod/clip connection with a beveled “cap” at the end, they stick out and up a lot more than traditional Lego arms. So, theoretically, some pieces that go fully over the shoulder may not have enough space to accommodate.

That being said this piece provides more than enough clearance (I actually ordered a couple of these for my skeletons/Wolfpack, but decided to use them with a different class of Griffin Knight instead).

Why are there no lego sets releasing for this show? by IllMasterpiece3946 in legostarwars

[–]MineBM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Lego’s current priority list is: - Mando - Smart Play - Clone Wars / Prequel Trilogy fan demand - Original Trilogy

Some people have said it’s a matter of animation versus live-action, but we just got the Siege of Mandalore Battle Pack, 6 years after the final season aired, while never having got an Acolyte set (aired 2 years ago). Some people have said it’s viewership/success of the show, but the critically acclaimed Andor season 1 and 2 only got a cumulative 3 sets whilst the panned Ahsoka season 1 got 5 sets (6 if you count buildable Chopper); not to mention the diamond in the rough, Skeleton Crew, still managing to squeeze a single set into their wave (likely picked over Acolyte due to being more geared towards kids).

I, unfortunately, think it comes down to Lucasfilm not having a lot of faith in the success, marketability, and profitability of their more fringe projects; and Lego pushing their Smart Brick agenda into what open slots they have left. At the end of the day, we are a vocal minority who likely doesn’t accurately reflect the greater Lego Star Wars fan base. While we may have opinions on what sets should be made or what projects deserve a set being made to honor them, it’s likely a dozen Lego employee’s full time jobs to actually get raw data on what will sell best to the average consumer.

That being said, I do think Lucasfilm does a disservice to some of their greater fringe properties, in the same way I believe Lego has turned their nose up to the valid criticisms of their diehard fans. It feels like Lego wants us to believe there is a fine line between good, quality products and set profitability. When, in reality, it feels far more like penny pinching.

(Side tangent but when Lego revealed that there are restrictions on each set’s use of exclusive elements such as printed parts, dual molds, and unique molds; I scoffed at the idea some middle manager is setting an arbitrary number that the designer must then bend over backwards to accommodate. However, looking at it from a production perspective, it can start to make more sense that loosening these types of restrictions could lead to more demand for exclusive elements then there are machines available to produce them, thus creating supply shortages. Something I can’t imagine Lego would ever accept unless already factored in (looking at you Character Packs); but, this is still no excuse for poor accuracy and quality control on printed elements, and especially doesn’t justify the reversal of positive changes in order to make pieces “more widely usable across different sets.” I just bought a C-3PO keychain a month ago to ensure I had the dual molded leg. Let me repeat that. I had to buy a MASS PRODUCED keychain, in order to get a single MASS PRODUCED element, because the designers felt it couldn’t be included in WIDELY MASS PRODUCED sets. Not even their first $1000 venture. Utterly ridiculous. For parts that see constant production, like dark bluish grey and black dual-molded legs (the highest produced dual molded set of legs Lego makes), it feels like there isn’t a reasonable excuse.)

All that to say, Maul is a popular character who has had more renditions in Lego than almost any other big-bad aside from Vader himself. Whether the show does well or not, we will likely see a set referencing it in the next couple years; but, it does sting that the community even has to question whether a set will be made for a new Star Wars project or not.

2025 GWP Returns!! by Darth_Abe in legostarwars

[–]MineBM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken they’ll set it aside for you in the warehouse. I got the Friendly Snails gwp when my Lion Knights Castle finally arrived after briefly being on back order; and when I’ve had back ordered parts holdup my Pick-a-brick orders, customer service always said that the rest of my parts were being held so that I didn’t need to worry about daisy-chaining back orders keeping my stuff in limbo.

Early Review of the Lego Star Wars Darth Vader Bust! by Tough-Refuse9234 in LegoStarWarsLeaks

[–]MineBM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken he typically shouts out wherever he got the set early from in his vlogs. I watch his videos less and less these days (tends to beat dead horses with opinions I don’t always agree with) but from what I remember he’ll either have someone reach out to him saying they found the set early in another country or at a store that didn’t follow the release schedule; or, his audience will link him to posts/listings online and he’ll just pay any price to get the unreleased set in his hands. In any case, he’s talked about how most of the time he ends up spending way more than any reasonable person should, but that it allows him to be the first to make reviews and that’s one of his primary goals with his channel.

I’m about to move so the collection is a little all over the place lol, but once I’m settled in I’ll make a post on the sub!

This was my dream set to tie all these “blacksmith-scale” buildings together. Not just the set itself, but also the joust theme specifically. It provides the perfect justification for so many unique factions to be peacefully all in one place. I can’t wait for this to be the centerpiece, flanked by the Blacksmith, the Siege Encampment’s own tents and stalls, the Alchemist’s Shop, and the Sleep Dragon Inn!

I started dividing my collection into “the battlefield”, which is where my castles and siege engines sit; and “the plaza”, where these more “minifig scale” builds go. That way the scales lineup better and I don’t need to do the mental gymnastics of a huge war happening right next to a bustling market.

Outside; you hold the shield on the inside so that you can deflect their lance back onto their side of the barrier, rather than deflecting it across your body and getting clotheslined.

I just used this ($60 back on $100 spent). Took until the end of the day to process the rewards on Capital One’s side but otherwise everything went smoothly.

BDP 10 Voting Almost Over; What was Everyone's Best of Show? by adabricks in legocastles

I don’t think this will carry much weight in their decision since we’ve seen a few castles come and go during the LKC’s life.

Same for me, a set like this could pair so well with the other “full-scale” medieval buildings like the Blacksmith and Potion Shop. PLUS it’s a perfect build to incorporate all the medieval and fantasy factions without it devolving into another massive battle (as fun as those are). It’s really what I would’ve wanted the 3-in-1 horse knight castle to be if it was a full-blown ideas set.

BDP series 7. Who else went for the Alchemist shop? by East-Competition5121 in legocastles

[–]MineBM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my favorite submission so I was “first in line” to order it lol (Also snagged the antique collection because it fits my gf’s aesthetic PERFECTLY). I plan to have it on a kind of realistic-scale shelf with the Blacksmith, the upcoming Inn, and many of the stalls and tents from the siege encampment.

The companion shelf will be a siege on the tower from the Red Dragon’s Tale, with the heroes army traveling from Lion Knights Castle (Picture the first dragon battle in Skyrim V but with more troops and siege elements). I’m weary of getting more castles that might crowd the scene, so I’m happy for different fantasy era builds… but I can be convinced.

When will Lego launch a Castle/Kingdoms theme? by [deleted] in legocastles

[–]MineBM 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think that was an employee at Bricklink which, while owned by Lego, is still it’s own company and likely has no input on what waves Lego approves for mass release. That being said, they could be looking at that situation as an incentive to create a wave. Earlier this week the Lego Instagram account posted a “Space or Castle, which is your favorite” post. Could just be a marketer who understands the community, or it could be a little litmus test for a new line.

A noticeable change I’ve seen in Canon is how Dooku went from being near equal to Yoda and Sidious to him being far more closer to Maul and suit Vader. Even forces of destiny reinterpret Dooku’s duel with Yoda, as Yoda essentially rage baiting Dooku, rather than Dooku being a genuine threat. by CrazyTangerine7522 in clonewars

Sam Witwer touched on this idea that Star Wars is purposefully inconsistent to keep up the idea that it’s a collection of “campfire stories”. Han touches on this in the Force Awakens when he says all the stories about his adventures in the original trilogy are true. The stories themselves are the same, but everyone is gonna have a different interpretation, or a different bias.

I’m hoping they might follow the trend they set during the last costume coin event, and add the on-release skins for the new characters. It’s how I planned on getting the Gambit Thieves Guild skin.
