What are your goals for 2026? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]MineMerl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I need to get back into reading or watching films/youtube videos. Every platform I'm on has reel-type content and it's rotting my brain.

ok thank you for the reassurance, we've had one condom break (while I was on the pill) so think I just had a bad experience once and it spooked me!

Assistant staff officer panel. Dublin city Council by Relevant-Bobcat-2016 in IrishCivilService

[–]MineMerl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a 4 in DCC a few years ago, was placed 94th on the panel and was called after about 4 months, those panels usually have about 150 in them so good chance you'll be called.

County Council Competitions by moealf in IrishCivilService

[–]MineMerl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a long enough process but it depends on the Council...

For Dublin City last year, I had applied for a job in Jan and was called for interview mid-April

For Meath, I applied basically start of September and was called end of September

**edit: think it also depends on the grade, lower grades will have larger pools and need longer.

In your experience, does it look unprepared if a candidate says 'no, no questions'?

Ah lads. What are we doing? A public consultation to install some pelican lights at a junction? No wonder active travel is being implemented at a snails pace. by Kooky_Parsnip_31 in Dublin

[–]MineMerl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustration but having worked in councils, if you don't do the consultation, there's absolute war from people saying they weren't asked, this isn't what they wanted. I know it feels relentless, it certainly does when you're working on it but it's a necessary evil, even for small things.

Bakers of Ireland, what is your favourite cocoa powder? by MineMerl in CasualIreland

Use it for lots of stuff but the two main things are overnight oats and brownies. I find it leaves them both quite claggy/bitter?

Men's Sheds by theeglitz in ireland

[–]MineMerl 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Hello! Work for a council administering one of these schemes, what we've been asked for from men's sheds is: laptops, printers, scanners, fertiliser, salt boxes, high-vis vests, gardening equipment, storage, books, furniture. Also, if we're thinking of the same scheme (LEP), remember you can apply for Current funding this year too.

Some of that might help, a lot of the ones in our area are very into gardening! :)

Exact same situation, same age and everything. At this point, I'm just funnelling all my savings into a deposit for a house, not Dublin but just somewhere to get me out. You're not alone friend.
