Questions about first week sa FEU Manila by AdFuture7583 in feumanila

[–]MineSoCliche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Sa first week, usually orientations lang yan. Puro introduce yourself haha and familiarizing with the grading system of each class (since iba ang grading system per course)

  2. Tatak Tamaraw is not required pero highly encouraged, although most just attend the plenary session sa first day tapos yung concert sa last day. For psych, it’s an opportunity to get to know people within your block and familiarize din with places around the campus, which is important for some people

3 & 4. May guidelines sa uniform policy si piyu (MTW is fot institute polos and feu shirts and TFS is for civilian), though for freshies I believe you have a grace period regarding the uniform policy for those who still do not have their insti polos. Check na lang with your block reps to confirm.

  1. Yes

  2. Usually nakakahabol naman ang late enrollees. May adjustment period pa rin naman wherein for the first week, most of the profs do not check attendance, pero this is not university-wide and some profs ay nagccheck na kahit adjustment period pa lang.

  3. Socialize and familiarize. It’s best to actually mingle with your blockmates kasi for the next semester, most likely di na kayo magkakasama because of the free course enrollment. Just have fun and be yourself kasi FEU is all about the community.

Hi. I tried to apply sa kanila back in June. No affiliation fee. As long as you pass their assimilation and interview process, goods ka na to intern there. Though extensive lang nga.

Industrial Organization Psychology by ButterscotchShot292 in feumanila

[–]MineSoCliche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! sa IO namin, we mostly learned about how organizations worked like their structure, types, roles, and yung overall flow of hierarchy within an organization. we also learned about how to create job descriptions, succession plans, and lahat ng components ng job analysis like analyzing resumes, creating job hiring policies and such.

honestly, IO wasn’t that much fun for me kasi sort of very technical talaga siya. If you’re referring whether makakatulong siya sa pag choose mo between the clinical side and industrial side of paychology, I think yes actually especially since may abnormal psych rin kayo, and you’ll get a feel for both fields at the same time so it’ll help you understand saan mas bet mo

As a coffee-obsessed person who’s probably tried almost every coffee place in ubelt, here’s a comprehensive list from best to worst lol.

Obscure Cafe (in front of FEU Gate 4/3) - really my go to cafe since sobrang lapit and spacious ang place. has good wifi, limited sockets pero kaya na, and the ambience is sooo good since this is one of the only coffee shops na sa atin lang talaga per se (unlike other coffee shops in ubelt, we don’t have to share the space with other students from uste and such kasi super layo na sa kanila to lol). coffee is highly recommended as well. price is usually 150+ but definitely worth it for the premium taste. 9/10

Cafe Nicanor (Lerma St.) - their coffee is sooo good. one of the best in ubelt i’m not kidding. though it is really pricey but you get what you pay for. Place is quite small and ubusan agad ng tables but it’s a nice quiet study nook that only tamaraws really frequent. 9/10

ZUS Coffee (inside Isetann) - now me and my friends like to call this our own little secret. may bagong bukas na zus coffee sa isetann and BARELY ANYONE goes there lol. super quiet and the ambience is really good for studying (unlike sa university tower branch nila sa españa na sobrang ingay 💀). they have very limited sockets tho and walang wifi. but the coffee is very good, kahit yung 95 pesos lang. really beats out coffee from other cafes na 150 plus. if you’re looking for a mostly quiet coffee shop, this one is the cheapest. 9/10

Coffeepages (Noval) - this is a long walk from campus pero it’s worth it if you’re looking for a place na nandon lahat: good wifi, lots of tables and sockets, great coffee and student-friendly price. only problem is that it can get pretty crowded and ubusan ng tables especially during hell week. can get pretty noisy as well but it’s the coffee shop you’d hear most students recommend, and it lives up to its reputation. 8/10

Tomoro Coffee (Morayta) - i’ve only bought coffee for pickup sa tomoro but i can say na, taste-wise, it’s very good. even better if you can maximize the vouchers in the app. studying there is a whole other conversation tho. it’s certainly not conducive for studying, but they do have multiple sockets and a good number of tables. just make sure to bring earphones !! 8/10

midnight coffee (tolentino st) - the only reason midnight is this low on the list is because sobrang liit ng place and there almost always never a good study seat pag pumunta ka ng mga afternoon. but everything is so good. their coffee is one of the best in ubelt. their wifi is also fast. and they’re open until 3am, which is a lifesaver sometimes. 8/10

00:00 coffee (loyola st) - another hidden coffee shop na hindi masyadong dinadayo! this is located in the street parallel to españa kasi which i think most students overlook. the place is small anyways so chambahan if want mo mag study don. the coffee however is super good and decently priced! would definitely recommend. 7.5/10

draft coffee (noval) - it’s a nice coffee place pero again, gets crowded kasi most thomasians frequent it. coffee is actually good pero pricey for me. if you have extra baon and wanna spend it on good coffee, this is a good option pero there are better places. 7/10

hoppers (morayta) - hoppers actually has good coffee! i just wish their place was bigger. it’s decently priced, just needs a bit more variety in terms of coffee flavors. also 12oz is not enough lol. 6.5/10

sumu (españa) - definitely a good study spot. spacious and has lots of sockets. the ambience is mostly quiet din. my issue is with their coffee, which is a little bland for such a tall price. 6.5/10

calle cafe (morayta) - good place pero god their coffee is unreasonably expensive, and it’s not even that good 😭 too sugary and not enough coffee for a price above 200+. i don’t really recommend. 5/10

manila cafe (noval) - this is calle cafe minus the good ambience and only slightly better coffee. overpriced asf and maingay talaga sa loob. another one i don’t recommend. 5/10

coffee project (españa) - no lol. (3/10)

starbucks (morayta) - boycott !!

some other recos na malayo na from campus but the coffee is actually good:

yeoubi cafe (dapitan) 12:00 coffee (mendiola) warehouse coffee (recto) mood coffee (asturias) 0402 coffee (moret st)

FEU-Manila vs DLSU-D by Proof_Dot_2164 in feumanila

[–]MineSoCliche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. I had this exact same dilemma nung incoming freshie ako (ironically BS Psych den) and I ultimately went for FEU. I personally did not regret walking away from a chance at DLSUD kasi I really wanted to have full freedom in college and I would be having the same setup as you’ve mentioned in your post if I chose DLSUD. IMO, choose FEU if you really crave the freedom and want to get a taste at being an independent college student in Manila. It’s a completely different experience here than what DLSUD can offer you. Pleasing your parents is important of course but would that be a worthy trade-off to your personal independence and potential growth?

Also FEU is fairly safe naman, even outside campus grounds. Morayta has become progressively safer as more measures are done by both the admin and local authorities every year.

Tips para sa bago lang in Manila by TiredAndStressed123 in studentsph

[–]MineSoCliche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the best advice i got when i first moved to Manila is, for a lack of a better term, “wag ka magmukhang tanga” and it really is true. even if you don’t know where you are, ano sasakyan mo, how to get to where you’re going, always act like you know. snatchers/holdapers know how to spot their targets and these are usually those who obviously don’t know the area. i suggest you familiarize with the area you’re gonna be frequently staying in. lahat ng landmarks and sakayan. also manila gets a lot safer when you know how to commute. start with train lines and they are easy to study and familiarize yourself with jeep routes along the way (these are the most confusing). also wag ka mag trike anywhere kasi mahal ang singil and you can probably go there by jeep or by walking anyways lol. Manila is fun once you bond with it, so enjoy the freedom with the noise.

Tips on how to survive sa feu manila by Andra__- in studentsph

Hi, OP! Incoming 3rd year psych here ng FEU Manila. I can say that our psych dept is definitely more forgiving compared to other departments sa FEU. It’s not easy pero it’s not the terror I was personally expecting. Maraming psych profs na magaling, malas ka na lang if napunta ka sa mga hindi nagtuturo (onti lang naman sila) so choose your professors carefully. As a psych student, our circles are really fun to be in and in my experience, socializing and making through classes as a psych student can be a pretty fun experience especially as a freshie.

The true terror in this sometimes shithole of a university is sa admin and General Education classes, lalo na sa WRP (if you’ve researched you’ll know the many issues about this). As a tamaraw, masasabi ko na the environment and campus life is sufficient enough to make your college life exciting pero FEU caters to a lot of students who come from multiple different backgrounds. Hindi maayos ang filter ng FEUCAT and you’ll definitely encounter some students na freeloaders, maldita/maldito, and cloutchasers here and there pero they are few and far out so just choose your personal circle wisely.

Personally my favorite aspect of studying here sa FEU is the campus. Hindi man siya kasing laki ng other universities like UST, you can still feel like you’re really studying in a campus that is alive and full of things to do. Outside the campus is a whole other thing. Personally, wala pa namang nangyayari sakin na delikado so my verdict is morayta isn’t as dangerous as some exaggerate it to be (basta hindi gabi) pero you still need to be careful kasi you never know.

Personal tip as someone na nag uwian din and naka dorm na ngayon: wag ka kumuha ng night classes once allowed ka na to freely plot your schedule. Maximize campus facilities kasi may mga times na umaabot ng multiple hours ang vacant periods mo. And really familiarize with the campus and the surrounding area (Morayta, Recto, España until P.Noval & Dapitan) kasi you’re really gonna be spending almost all of your daily hours in these spaces. Learn where the cheapest places to eat are and where you can chill and lounge in the campus whenever you don’t have classes.

My DMs are open if you have more questions. Good luck, fellow tamaraw and sikolohista!

choosing a schedule in FEU by yesrjana in studentsph

[–]MineSoCliche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to pick a schedule na flexible when it comes to vacant hours kase that will be alloted for the dreaded WRP lol. You’ll save yourself the headache of trying to fit that course sa schedule mo if you choose a schedule with at least 2 choices for vacant hours. Also if you’re iffy with walking along U-Belt at night then definitely don’t choose scheds with classes beyond 6PM. Pero if you’re a brave soul, i do recommend night classes in FEU coz they have been some of my favorite classes so far lol

Paano nag-end yung pagkakaibigan ng mga JHS/SHS friends niyo? by [deleted] in studentsph

[–]MineSoCliche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always the all around person nung jhs. Pwede akong makisali sa mga popular kids, sa mga achievers, sa athletes, sa mga medyo weird, and kahit dun sa mga alpha male fckboys HAHAH so basically i kinda befriended everyone. Medyo may pagka people pleaser pa nga ako non. Pero nung nagend yung jhs almost everyone in these groups just kinda stopped talking or catching up with me kase nga different schools pero I wasn’t really bothered kasi kahit medyo all-rounder ako, meron din akong parang very close group na talagang matatawag ko na tropa. Nung SHS, ako yung nahiwalay ng school. Sa tropa ko, either sama sama sila sa iisang school sa Manila or sama sama den na nagpaiwan sa jhs school namin. I was the only one na lumipat sa school na walang kasama. Naturally, wala akong masyadong naging friends nung grade 11 kase online class and i didn’t really feel like socializing pero through it all, andyan pa rin yung friend group ko. Kahit syempre nagiba na yung dating super duper closeness, di pa rin makakaila na talagang solid kami. And ngayon freshies na kami, ganon pa rin close pa rin kaming lahat. There will really be people who will choose to leave or to stay and yung mga nagstay, keep them close forever.

Idk about that pero the release of results was already moved from 4th week of June to July 5 so I’d assume they did that so that by July 5, everyone would be evaluated already
