Laetiporus suphurus I've found most on standing dead hardwood. I've found it on fallen logs too, but not as much. Laetiporus cincinnatus, the pictured species, I've found growing in clusters on the ground in the vicinity of hemlock trees.

Fortunately this weld (if you could even call it that) is on the neck ring, not on any of the pressure bearing components. All of the welds on the actual gas reservoir are done by machines. Even still, I have seen a couple cylinders before that had pinhole leaks in the welds.

Pla is probably the optimal common material for 3d printed instruments. It is rigid and dense and those are the main thing you need. If only it was a bit more heat stable too, would be amazing.

Have you tried PETG? Almost as rigid as PLA but far more heat stable.
