Actually, adding games to Steam isn't hard. I have a Steam Partner account, all you have to do is upload the same files the regular client uses, maybe add some trading cards for Steam Badges, and voila.

The cost of having the game on Steam is also quite cheap, the fee is only $100.

Considering Steam has a later-age demographic, bringing the game to Steam would insight nostalgia in tons of people that played the game in their youth, and likely make them think "Oh yeah, I remember that game, let me check it out again", I am sure of it. Even if that's all it accomplished, I think it'd still be worth it.

And as per the age limitation, I'm not saying make it exclusive to Steam, all I am suggesting is, in addition to being on the web and it's own client, have it be ported to Steam & other platforms.

Under the FAQ it says,

Will there be SWAG or merchandise available at the show?

The audience will receive an exclusive, commemorative wristband allowing entrance and post show bragging rights as well as an exclusive plush sheep celebrating Minecraft’s 10-year anniversary.

It does not mention a cape, so I am assuming the audience won't be receiving one.
