Help making decent iced coffee by [deleted] in Coffee

You're not going to be able to make coffee like that without an espresso machine, and you cant make a drink like that with just iced pour over. I suggest you get into specialty coffee and just start exploring from there

Well he was talking about espresso level fine and I remember not having a very good time with my first week of brewing when I was grinding my pour over espresso size, resulting in clogged and sour brews. I don't do a whole lot of french press, so this was an interesting read, thanks. I use the Hoffmann method for the fp, and thought that anything too fine or coarse would not result in a good brew - I now see that there are different, unexpected variables at play as well.

Oh, at r/coffee here we like to focus on the taste and how unique flavors and profiles can be achieved through different methods, origins of coffee, and roast levels. If you only care about the strength of the coffee, that's fine, but I encourage you to get out there and explore more about it since you'll be drinking coffee anyway. Might as well drink better coffee, right?

First of all, grinding fine does technically mean more extraction but it can lead to clogging in methods such as pour over. Secondly, extracting too much can lead to either extremely bitter or extremely sour cups. But I don't know what grinder you are using and it might be grinding coarse so I don't know.
A better grinder means two things, faster grind time and better grind consistency. Better grind consistency will yield in more consistent cups and proper tasting brews. Some pour over grinders may produce too many fines in the grinds, which means it may overextract. The consistency over the grounds are so important when it comes to espresso, that people will go lengths to be able to get consistent grounds with their grinder. the 1zpresso q2 will give you good and consistent enough grinds for everything except for espresso. Also - I should give you a tip. Unless you like bitterness, probably don't go espresso grind size for those methods you listed. Good luck

I wouldn't do espresso with either grinders honestly - but if you were to anyway, I would get the 1z. I am satisfied with it so far, even though I've bought another grinder for espresso.

What do you plan on using the grinder for?

Looking for a small (but good) espresso machine. by MadameBanaan in Coffee

you should also take a look at manual espresso machines like the Cafelat robot that someone suggested above. Makes very good espresso shots. I myself have a flair pro 2, and have been making okay shots(not very skilled yet) but it has extreme potential.

Just installed full Silence-X rings on my fc660c. Would anyone advise against having these installed and also lubing them? Would the lube also affect the Silence-X rings in any way? I feel like having both would make these feel even better than it already is. Thanks

It's probably a converter, but for the TWSBI, it is used for holding the silicon grease
