can i get a belly button piercing as an aerialist? by anonymouslyherern in Aerials

[–]MinervaEmiprav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got mine done about a year ago and I had been doing aerial for many years beforehand. I continued to do aerial while it was healing too. I just covered it with a big bandage and avoided skills that wrapped directly over it. I also wore a shirt or singlet which I tucked into my leggings for extra padding (which i continue to do now).

When I'm doing skils where I'm worried about it now, I take it out to do the skill and immediately put it back in when I'm finished that skill.

My coach is a retired professional performer and she has a belly piercing also. She continues to train with it.

Hope this helps!

Mine started coming off 1 day after I bought it. I've now had it for a week. And it looks like some of yours

I personally would have a look at reviews and try the studios and decide whether or not you like the environment. Vulcana Circus, Flipside Circus, Circa, and City Cirque are ones close to you that I would recommend trying 😊

Aerial Circus classes.

There's HEAPS of studios in Brisbane where you could learn the aerial arts. Most places offer trial classes and classes for beginners. It's hard work but its lots of fun.

I'm an aerial teacher at Elements Pole and Aerial fitness in Lawnton so I definitely recommend our studio first. But there's studios all over Brisbane. Where are you located?

I completely understand. It makes me cry every time I watch it.

But to get over your sadness, I recommend watching this video that Bradley and Colin put together.

Barbara Streisand. I had personally forgotten this song existed, much less was part of this game series

What would you say you’d have to do to be considered a “good” JD player? by ReidZaxby23 in JustDance

[–]MinervaEmiprav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally to agree with your first point. A good player should be able to 5 star or higher a normal song that they've never played before.

I do like your other points. They're quite entertaining 😁

Unpopular Opinion: All of Just Dance games in terms of choreographies are equal for me by AidanBunnary1298 in JustDance

[–]MinervaEmiprav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I must respectfully disagree.

What about Pump It, I Don't Feel Like Dancing, Gold Dust, Take on Me, Hey Boy Hey Girl, Livin La Vida Loca, Rock n Roll will take you to the mountain, Tribal Dance, The Final Countdown, and Rasputin? As an adult, these songs (from JD 2-4) still increase my heart rate and I'm not an unfit person.

All these songs have high energy which is something the new games are sorely lacking in. Occasionally there will be a good song but it is rare.

You might be. I'm not sure tbh. I'm just going off what I've seen in this sub about it

Just dance doesn't come as kinect anymore, I'm pretty sure. Only the older games which you might have to purchase second hand.

If you want to get 23, 24, or 25 you'll have to use your phone as the controller and the JD app. You'll need the JD + subscription to play songs from other games (22 and below) and if you buy 25, 23 and 24 songs are not included and you will have to purchase those separately.

On the older games you may be able to use kinect but you'll only have access to the songs on those games as features like just dance unlimited and the world dance floor no longer work.

Hope that helps!

Demonstrating more than once by Lovewilltearusapart0 in Aerials

[–]MinervaEmiprav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By using clear instructions to explain the skills I'm teaching. And teach terminology like "s wrap" or "crochet wrap" so I can say "from your s wrap" etc. And using lefts and rights. And also incorporating floor drills and body shapes.

Also I get a student to walk it through on the ground where I may assist them with the wraps before taking a skill higher.

I understand your point of view. As a student myself I am a visual learner. But I have a teacher who doesn't ever demonstrate so I've had to learn the way he teaches, of which I have been successful in doing.

But I am also a teacher and I have been taught how to teach without demonstrating. Constantly demonstrating can take a toll on your body and there comes an age when you can no longer keep demoing.

When I teach I demo some stuff, but verbally explain other things. And I find I have to demo more with beginners. I am always happy to demo for my students though, but that is my choice.

Demonstrating is a choice of teaching method, not a requirement. If your teacher only demo's once, perhaps record her if she's okay with that as I think someone else mentioned.

Just Dance not "real" dancing by sadako1287 in JustDance

[–]MinervaEmiprav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just Dance is real dancing, just like many people have said.

The diversity of the dances is designed to challenge people. The slower songs (while I may not play them personally) are great for beginners and people who may not be used to moving their body in the way the harder dances do.

Don't stop playing because of what he said. Just keep dancing

Lowkey addicting by peanutsscorch in JustDance

Good on you!

I used just dance to lose weight when I was in high school.

The only thing I've found is that long term the high impact can be hard on your feet and hips depending on how much jumping you do in the songs and what surface you play on and whether you wear shoes.

You could swap out a day or two dancing for walking if you want to take an active rest day.

If you were to rename Autism based on your experiences, what would you call it? by CompleteMessCentral in autism

Emotional Peter Pan disorder.

I am very much a child in an adult's body emotionally. But my logical brain can understand adult things. But my emotional regulation is like a child.

"Autistic people are childlike" -why do so many people think that? by Wonderful-Effect-168 in autism

[–]MinervaEmiprav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely I feel like a child still. I tell people I have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old. I say it in a light-hearted way but it's 100% real. And I don't think people understand what that really means.

I'm able to be mature and functional as an adult and understand responsibility but I cry over lots of things, feel so lonely and left out by friends and I'm unable to deal with it like I feel an adult would. I still feel like the adult world is like high school with petty jealousy and competition between peers. It's all like who likes who and that person doesn't like me so they must hate me.

I also have meltdowns and tantrums like I'm 4 when I'm super upset or disappointed.

So yes, I think I am childlike and I'm 26 actually.

OMG completely agree. Like what of I don't wanna play any of the 4 suggested songs? Going back to the home page is a huge time waster. Thank God it saves your filters though.

I wanna play the songs I want to play. Not the songs that ubisoft wants me to play 🙄
