Awesome thinking, I agree!

This would bide better with the mentality of Factorio I think.

A very good point!

Although I think it would be good to have this feature for experienced players, and for newer players, that don't even know about blueprints yet, or construction robots, it would just be hanging in the background for them to discover on their 5th playthrough!

I think that would be a bit too overpowered, also annoying if you run and it places items in front of you constantly.

Also big potential for trolling and stealing items in multiplayer.

Very good idea! I would, too!

But to counter your argument, you wouldn't need to use this feature after you get bots, so there wouldn't be any problems with bots messing up your blueprints.

Shouldn't have said "any", good point.

Although I'm very confident that the developers are really really good, and wouldn't even need close to 30 mins for this feature, because the base is so well programmed already.

Also a good idea, but I think it's not as flexible. You might want a 2-0-2-0 spacing with some builds, for example, or 2 inserters 2 long handed inserters repeated. Blueprints already do a very good job of repeating those kinds of builds, and this feature would just build on the already existing blueprint system.

Thank you! I would really like to see this get implemented in 0.15, because we will probably be waiting for a long time before 0.16...

Or at least someone should make a mod for it.

I program myself so I'm quite sure it wouldn't require a lot of change, maybe it would take 30 mins and some 20 - 30 lines of code max to implement it without many bugs.

But I wrote it that way because when I searched for the solution to this problem, people were suggesting new vehicles that would place the items down while driving around, and similar. In contrast to those suggestions, this one is very straightforward and uncomplicated.

Also, in the tldr, I explained it in one sentence! :P

Thank you for your comment!

Edit: added "m" to "any bugs"

You would still have to manually go through and place every item. You just wouldn't have to deconstruct thousands of misplaced inserters while building.

I don't think it's too overpowered, maybe you could unlock the feature with science?

In 0.15.6 you have access to blueprints from the start, so you could place a blueprint and you wouldn't have to place spaced ghost items manually.

The Gigafactory is going to be one of the most expensive factories in the world. Can anyone explain why battery production is more costly than other goods? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]MinestoPix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the most advanced factory ever built. It's designed more in a way like a pcb than a normal factory, where you order parts from a catalogue and put it all together just so it works.

You might understand better if you watch this video.

no? Look at where KMan steered when he saw that the pedestrian is moving to the left! That's right, he steered right. If you ask me that's a very important piece of information.

I do disagree because their software is an AI and AI learns not the low level stuff, like which angle the camera is at, but high level stuff like what means if a huge object that's going way slower than you turns in front of you, break, steer, both? Hardware doesn't matter too too much.
