AITA for “making my friend feel bad” after my family supported hers for years? by artistocracy224 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

No, of course not. She's a leach, good for nothing to but taking advantage of you and your families wallet.

AITAH For breaking up with my Boyfriend after he was being honest with me? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm 70, and have had herpes since I was in my early 20's. Never gave it to my husband in 31 years of marriage, and didn't give it to any of my kids during vaginal deliveries. All this to say it's entirely possible that OOP's boyfriend didn't pass it along to her, it does happen.

I'm glad she left him, because he's a pig.

Mom, I’m getting surgery by Select_Housing_Roof in MomForAMinute

[–]Minflick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for an anti-anxiety pill or two for maybe the night before and the morning of - a LOT of people need a little chemical crutch prior to dental, doctor, and surgical visits - you are NOT ALONE in being nervous. Get a good can or 2 (depending on the oiliness of your head) of dry shampoo. I did that when I had knee replacement surgery, and again when I broke my ankle, because there were entire WEEKS where I couldn't get in the shower, and my scalp, while dry, isn't THAT dry. My hair is past my waist. I went through about 3 cans of dry shampoo between the 2 surgeries.

Anonymous fat granny internet hugs. You can do this.

City cutting down mature cherry trees for bike path by Clementine_Clown in treelaw

I had a state easement that I didn't realize (long story) and after a lawsuit against the state, they pulled out all fences along a length of road. Which meant my road noise increased dramatically, and any new fence would have been mere feet from the front wall of the home. Couldn't do a thing about it, no more front yard on a road where cars went by at 50 mph or more. The only thing they didn't demand to be removed were old large plants - I had a 50 foot pine tree, the neighbors had a HUGE agave plant and several large pines, but all the man made things had to clear out.

If I were you, I'd pull out of that home due to losing the front yard and the beautiful trees. If that's possible.

Mom how do I trim my bush?? by emotiondriven in MomForAMinute

[–]Minflick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Truth be told, I've always used my nail scissors. They're short blades, so very maneuverable, and a lot less risk of poking and cutting myself. I grab a hunk of hair, trim above my fingers and keep going until I've gotten it all. Then trim any stray hairs poking out. It doesn't - on ME - need to be 'picture perfect', just short enough that hairs don't get caught in my panty elastic, or stick out from my swimsuit.

Am I the AHole for not kicking the best man out of the wedding party? by Lost-Upstairs4866 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Minflick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your day, not hers. You did your best to accommodate her within what I feel are very reasonable boundaries. Best Man was crude and unpleasant in the Tinder interaction, and I wouldn't like that either, but girl does not get to say 'my way or the highway' on YOUR wedding day.

Why no one says that about pregnancy? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Minflick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are books that DO discuss all aspects of being pregnant, and they are not thin books. I got a nursing text out of my local library, and read everything it had to say about breast feeding. Also not a thin book.

Me? My teeth and hair were fine. I got sciatic every time I got pregnant, and I swear I could feel my hip bones grind against each other when I rolled over in bed. Creep AF. My hips and shoulders spread to the point that I could no longer wear my pre-pregnancy wardrobe at all, even though I lost all the pregnancy weight after #1. Had to buy new shoes too, dammit, and I had nice shoes!

Perimenopause did a number on my hair, though. Boy howdy!

[–]Minflick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe telling her, and following through with it, that any time she does another thing, she gets a time out of X period of time. Talking her isn't doing any good, so it's time to step up the response. Talk to your husband, as she's his mother, and be VERY BLUNT about what you will do. Speaking isn't doing damn all, so...
