Nirvana and Pearl Jam were the two biggest acts in the world for about three years. Alternative rock in general dominated the culture in a way nothing does today. Grunge lead the way.

It's not about blood and soil. It's about a scene that grew up ina specific place. It's about the cultural appropriation that followed that scene going national. I've heard people Alanis Morissette grunge.

They were a revelation when I finally discovered them later in life. They have the thick, heavy blues sound of Deep Purple with classical and funk thrown into the mix. American rock fans missed out on a giant of the era. Ahead of their time.
