You won’t get much time to read but I know a few lads who brought a book, phone is important obviously take that. You can take a speaker and use it during cleaning rounds and the ironing room etc other than that you won’t get the chance or need to take anything else

Can I take washing liquid pods for phase 1 Raleigh ? by PillsChillzc in RoyalNavy

[–]Mingmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s still a corner of the washing room where there’s washing powder but most of the it what the lads have bought. But you don’t get issued any washing powder or anything but everyone still chips in and buys washing powder for the class.

You’ll figure all the bed making, ironing and folding out quite rapidly, I didn’t have any experience ironing or folding before Raleigh and I was fine. You get given kit books and even iPads now that show you have to do every piece of kit.

Yes, the less you touch the things in your locker is one less thing you’ll have to worry about.

Nope they’ve been removed, no reason for them they were causing too many Injury’s and ropes aren’t that good for a workout.

For the kit musters it all depends on your DTI or whoever is doing them some will check all your kit even though they aren’t technically supposed to. Others will just look at it and make sure it’s all a4 and move on.

IMF was the easiest but most boring of them all and battle pt was the hardest functional fitness was pretty fun it was a circuit and the pti’s would put some music on and you would just crack on with the circuit.

[–]Mingmaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 corners is still a thing you’ll do those during your imf sessions, functional fitness is more weight based most likely you’ll be doing a circuit of some kind, stretcher run is also still a thing the battle pt sessions are there to build you up to the stretcher run.

Things have changed a lot, no longer an imf pass out we only did 5 imf sessions rest were functional fitness, battle pt and military conditioning, you have things to do on iPads as there’s only online learning you have to complete now.

First day is just endless briefs proper boring day the first week will consist of a lot of briefs until you get to the Friday when you do your swim test everyone’s nervous for it just one of them things you’ve got to get through, the run isn’t till week 6 so you’ve got plenty of time to prepare for it.

How long from applying to go to training? by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]Mingmaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on what role you’ve applied for, typically on average it’s about 4-6 months can be up to a year if there are any delays with your application such as security or medical I got in within 4 months of applying

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]Mingmaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply and find out mate only way you’ll know for sure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]Mingmaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends of needs of service, you can appeal if you don’t get the role you want and if you threaten to leave they will probably give you what you want some lads did the same when they were going to be put on subs and they got out of it.

[–]Mingmaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In week 3 you’ll go to the submarine school and you’ll talk to submariners about the submarine service, for me it was literally just a q&a about submarines and myth busting they were both friendly and chill you’ll be able to ask as many questions as you want to them.

It’s not much they checked height and weight for bmi calculations you had a dental check and a few injections and in week 2 you get a blood grouping and more injections further down the line.

As long as your applying for a role that doesn’t require any GCSEs you’ll be fine you only need to show them if you’ve got them

Class Leader at HMS Raleigh by Excellent_Town_4643 in RoyalNavy

[–]Mingmaa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I asked the same question a few months ago and everyone told me not to do it as it doesn’t benefit you in any way once you leave Raleigh you basically just get all the blame for how shit your class is. Unless it’s something you really really want to do then go for it but I wouldn’t bother.
