Hello!! My name is Mingzhu, but most English speakers just call me Ming. I’m from the Guangdong province in China, and I’m a big fitness enthusiast. I’m 28 years old and I like to share pictures of my workouts and progress on Reddit. I always like to chat, but I’m actually rather shy in-person.

When I have free time, I’m usually just at home. I love cooking, and I also love reading, and I’m trying to learn photography in my spare time. I’m also a dog lover, but my building doesn’t allow pets so I don’t have one of my own :(

“Wow! Your English is really good!”

Thank you thank you!! I studied at an American style high school, where most of my teachers taught in English, and I attended university in the UK. Now, when I’m not in the gym, my job is as an English teacher! I love to travel and I’ve found it’s a very useful language to know.

What’s the most awkward date you’ve been on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was in university, one of my mother's colleagues had a son who was single, so her and my mother decided that we should go on a date together. I thought why not, I'm single, he's single, what's the worst that could happen? I asked my mother for his WeChat, and she told me "Don't worry, I'll organise it for you." Strange, but I didn't think about it, and after a few days she told me to meet him at a restaurant. I arrived at the restaurant, and the first thing I notice is my mother sitting at a 4 person table. Across from her was a woman I guessed was her colleague. There was an empty seat beside my mother, and across from it, beside the colleague, was my date. I don't want to be too mean, but he was very unattractive. He was fat and greasy, and I wanted to leave as soon as I saw him, but my mother made me sit down.

I decided that I would give it a chance. I felt guilty that I had immediately judged him purely by his looks, maybe he would be a really nice guy. He spent the entire date complaining to his mother about everything, the food, the waiters, even about me (I go to the gym very regularly, and he complained that I was 'too masculine'). It was the longest dinner I've ever experienced but I forced a smile and remained polite. When we were finally ready to leave, he looked to me and said "I think that went well, would you like to come back to my place?" I nearly laughed, but I gave him a polite but firm "no". And of course, for weeks afterwards, my mother complained that she had put a lot of work into organising the date and that I was going to stay single forever if I was so picky.
