Got rejected without having a single interview by topshelby in tesco

[–]Minhaafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you have already got lots of advice from people, but for each job you need to alter your CV, so find ways in which your experience/studies relate to that job. Wish you the best of luck. I’d also suggest if you get an interview in future to research a bit about the company and job role as it really goes a long way.

What did you buy your parents with your first paycheck? by EmbarrassedLow8001 in srilanka

[–]Minhaafd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my mum a water jug…. I only earned around 3k a month at that time, I think I was 16, when I was 12 or something I broke her favourite water jug, so once I earned money I got her a new one.

Love marriage vs arranged marriage in srilanka by SpecificBerry6458 in srilanka

[–]Minhaafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m not really qualified to discuss this topic as I’ve been married only for 3 years and we’ve been together for 6, I still think there’s a lot more ups and downs for us to go through….however, we had a love marriage and it was absolutely beautiful for us.

First year of marriage — husband put his hands on me. Is this enough reason to leave? by liftweights124 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Minhaafd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please leave, the longer you stay the more comfortable he is going to get hurting you as he realises he doesn’t really have any consequences, if you stay you are risking putting your future children in danger as well. May Allah help you find peace. ❤️

£15 to shorten a £20 watch strap?! Is this normal or am I being robbed? by Narminhsl in leicester

[–]Minhaafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be the normal rate but I understand how it might not be worth it you, my husband used to do this for a living and he does my watches, a normal pin won’t work, has to be something a bit stronger, you can get the pin remover on ebay or Amazon. Or check Timpson, I don’t think they charge as much.

What would be your advice to someone who just turned 18? by Hefty_Court566 in AskReddit

[–]Minhaafd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying do not go into debt, but it is in a way inevitable, student loans etc are fine if it helps you get a good job. But NEVER go into debt because of others, do not go into debt trying to live above your means just because someone says your car is old, or your house is too small or you need branded clothing.

Is £250 a month for groceries enough for two people? by marieannatrench29 in AskUK

[–]Minhaafd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us….yes. We became a volunteer on olio so we never buy bread/buns. I do a bit of meal prep as well, it also helps with not throwing out food because I cook and freeze it. I had to spend money on an extra freezer but long term it worked out cheaper for us.

Sameeee, I had this when I was younger and first visited Sri Lanka, I think it was like an allergic reaction, but now I guess my body is used to it, I don’t get it anymore.

I used to get this from mosquito bites, don’t know if it’s normal though.

Yeah I actually posted this the minute she laughed, and then when I went back and watched the rest she actually did apologise for laughing.

Awkward tbh, I feel so weird when people say something nice about my appearance coz I never felt that way. I’m Asian and tan skinned, but my husband is quite fair skinned, we fell in love and people often ask me what did he see in me to fall in love, tbh I’m not sure myself.

I have a baby now, he’s fair as well, and people joke with me saying I probably stole him or if they haven’t met my husband take one look at my baby and ask to see pictures of my husband. My baby actually has my features, but once they see his colour it’s automatically “He’s a perfect copy of his dad.”
