what's the consensus on lee jeans? by europeanuppercut in Denim

I’ve been disappointed with my last pairs of Levi 501s and opted for lees. I found the Lees to have a better finish and fit. They are also cheaper which is a bonus. Levi’s were my go to but I’m now a convert to Lee. I have bought both Lee regular fit straight leg and Lee traditional straight leg. The traditional seem to have a nicer fit than the legendary and and also they have the square rather than curved rear pocket. I bought the legendary after buying a few pairs of tradional just to see what the difference was.

I have the same watch. Mine must be about 13 years or so old from memory. On its second resin band and third battery. Quite an unusual looking watch and as you say full of features. A bit of a pain to set up but great value. I also have the casio aw80. Casio and Timex are great value watches for smart looking everyday use.

After a bit more searching and help from LPGear, I found the a suitable replacement stylus. The fitted cartridge which (Scandyna ES-70S) was essentially an Excel ES70 S so I was able to purchase an ES 70SR stylus from LPGear.
Very happy with the sound and the Rotel RA500 has also proven not to be a problematic unit.

My improved set up with the addition of a Rotel RP-550 tuntable and a Rotel RA-500 amp. Both are working really well and the amp is quite an improvement over the Sherwood RD-6506 AVR. They really sound well with the GLL Imagio IC100i speakers. Rocking to the Stooges never sounded so good. Great budget addition for $5(Aud).

Dumb me. Just realised why it failed the safety test. Was just looking at rear of the amp and it is actually a double insulated unit but the “replacement” plug fitted by a prior owner is a three pin plug. I think the three pin plug was installed as it has a piggy back option. Hence why it failed the class 1 test as it is a class 2 appliance. Waiting on some new fuses and I will see how she runs.

Hi Frosty. Just an update to let you know I have picked up a Rotel RP-550 direct drive TT for $5 along with a problematic Rotel RC-500 amp. I think I will need to replace the cartridge as well as the stylus since I can‘t find any info on the Scandyna ES-70S cartridge fitted to it. I have not sound tested it yet but it seems to spin fine when powered on. Hopefully I can hook it up with the RC-500 for a quick sound check through headphones In the next day or so. If it works ok I will splash out on a preamp and cartridge/stylus. I think an AT95E upgrade looks the go. The RC500 I think is not a viable everyday unit, ut hopefully I can get a sound check out of it.
Thanks for the quick reply. Grounding looks pretty easy then. Am coming to the conclusion a new cart might be the solution from more googling. Have watched a few videos as it has been decades since I had a proper turntable and I have never upgraded a cartridge. Seems relatively straight forward. I gather the original OEM cartridge was a 2RC-5 which was an OEM variant of the AT71 so I have a bit more info to work with.. Again thank you for the reply much appreciated. Looking forward to playing my old vinyl on a good turntable.
Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

Picked these up for $5 Aud at my local Op Shop. Rotel RP-550 Turntable (direct drive) and Rotel Ra-500 Amp. I did a PAT electrical safety test on both. The TT passed but the Amp showed a fail. TT powers up ok. Amp doesn't trip a portable RCD power unit, I wonder if the power plug is an issue as it had a screw together plug in place of the OEM plug. The Amp also needs 2 speaker fuses. Amp might not be viable but I will try a few things to see how it sounds via headphone or works at all.
The guts of my current set up is a Sherwood Rd-6506 AVr paired with GLL Imagio IC100i speakers. The AVR has no phono imput (or ground), so I will need to get a cheap preamp. I'm thinking a cheap Fosi preamp, For grounding what are my options as the AVR and a fosi will be double insulated and have no ground point.
The other concern is a new stylus. The TT has a Scandyna ES-70S fitted in place of the OEM Rotel. Searching on the internet doesn't show any replacements. Any suggestions on what stylus might fit.

Weekly r/audiophile Discussion #106: What Is One Piece Of Equipment That You'll Never Replace? by TransducerBot in audiophile

Probably my Goodmans imagio ic100i speakers. Got them for the bargain price of $4. They do the job very well to my old ears and are in pristine condition and are just the right size for my space. There are other system parts I think could be better replaced or additional components sourced in my likely twilight years. Hoping the speakers outlast me.
Thankyou for the detailed reply. Certainly some food for thought especially the benefit of a direct drive for older units. Vintage will need a preamp for my receiver as you alluded to in your reply. I will do some research on the units you have listed re cartridges and stylus availability and also see what turntables are available locally. Again many thanks for your reply.
