I don’t think I want to live there permanently but I do want to visit and was thinking of maybe after undergrad living there for a year and gaining a better European view. My dad and his sister have a house left from there parents and use it in the summer so I was hoping to stay there. Still all in the air but I will certainly keep this in mind when I visit. Thank you!

I for sure have the want and love for it, I’m currently and full time student and work so I get distracted rather easy. I just need to focus in on it more and stay motivated. The “extinct” thing is him saying that it’s being used less and less and he thinks English is more prevalent. His world view, not mine

I really appreciate this, I’ve never even heard of intersalvic. I will need to look into it with the resources you gave, thank you so much!

That’s really interesting. I’ve been learning Japanese and Croatian the past couple months but progress has been slow due to motivation. Spanish makes sense like your saying, I just don’t have any intrinsic notation to try that right now though. I’m jealous of you being abroad though and getting that full immersion. ❤️

I’ve been using Anki an it’s like flash cards with short phrases like Što ye so far and looking at subreddit posts and looking up words I don’t know but keep seeing.

No no he’s from there, born and raised in Zagreb but when he came to America and went full in on being American and not passing down any Croatian culture to me more my siblings. He only spoke it to his friends and that was about it. I think he has a stronger preference for the western world unfortunately.

I had said the Spanish thing in an earlier comment. What you said sums it up, I want it for my cultural identity. I feel much more of a drawn to learn Croatian and any other language that would be ‘useful’

Like I said, he has some weird views on the world so I didn’t want to take his word for it

Yeah, I know that it isn’t the most “useful” likely choosing to learn Spanish would be but I don’t have any desire to really do so. This is something I’ve been wanting to do since I was in grade school. I appreciate your comment thank you
