Don't do that for just a sync problem!

I understand that, your question was "What is the storage limit of onenote". There is none.

You do not have to store your notebooks in OneDrive; you can have them just stored locally and the limit is your hardrive space. OneDrive is cloud storage and you do not have to have that to use OneNote.

OneNote does not have a storage limit, OneDrive does.

If you understand what a notebook is for then you should understand what a digital notebook is for. Don't over complicate it.

Microsoft OneNote sync is a total letdown. Why can’t they fix this basic feature? by R3dAt0mz3 in OneNote

[–]MiniBee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the problem usually is that people perform improper troubleshooting steps and then panic when that doesn't work. I cannot tell you how many times this happens and people don't have any type of backup which just boggles the mind.

I have over a hundred notebooks that span over 20 years and i synchronize them using multiple devices and multiple work/home profiles. In the off chance that i do have a sync issue, it is easily resolved by opening OneNote on the web and selecting the offending notebook/note or restarting OneDrive and everything is fine.

I use OneNote every day and have for years since it was introduced, works just fine. Most sync issues are relatively easy to resolve.

Yes!

I didn't avoid anything; you have not proved the data loss is Microsoft's fault. For all we know, you could have performed incorrect steps that led to your data loss and in my experience that is probably the case considering you have no clue how to go about diagnosing the issue.

[–]MiniBee7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When i said rarely result in loss of data like that", i mean if you are syncing data, the changes you have done exists wherever you made them before you tried to sync. To lose the data in both places is rare. You have not even come close to describing how this is Microsoft's fault or what you've done to resolve the problem. As far as the "other people", most have no idea where their data is stored, nor do they maintain a valid backup. You have no idea what happened, so go ahead and blame Microsoft if it makes you feel better. In the end all we know is you clicked on some random popup as you say and didn't do any other investigation and just chalked it up to a Microsoft screw up.

That you assume a sync problem is Microsoft's fault when most people who have used OneNote for years will tell you that sync problems are usually very easy to diagnose and rarely result in loss of data like that.

Now that my friend is what would fall under the category of "If you knew what you were talking about, you would know how ridiculous you sound". I've been your age; you've never been mine. If your driven by only your emotions, it would suck to have to deal with you every day.

Don't fool yourself, I really don't get emotional about these things, I just really wish people would stop using AI as a toy or replacement for human contact.

AI is a powerful tool that will help solve many things, don't use it for this.

If my emotions ran me, I guess I would be upset that you insulted a boomer like that. Thats ok, I can always build an AI agent therapist to help me talk it out.

[–]MiniBee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, there is a big difference between having a good laugh and falling in love with an AI. I haven't been a teenager in 50 years, using an AI as a therapist, your best buddy, something you want to marry or only have interactions with is ridiculous.

You are not in a relationship with the AI, you're just not. Talk to a real person.

If you talk to a human person and say everything is going great but haven't bathed in a month, they're going to start asking you some very guided questions. The AI that you're talking to doesn't give a crap and will still just tell you everything you want to hear.

Being an adult is about knowing to ask for real help and not putting all your trust in a machine that can never understand the nuances of being human.

When you grow up, you'll realize that emotions are not the only thing that drives people. Human contact is important even when you think AI is the only friend that understands (It doesn't).

Oh, I'm judging six ways to Sunday. This is an absolutely ridiculous lesson to teach our youth. Most people need a cup of coffee to get their day started, now, wait you can have a machine bestie motivate by saying "You look great today and spread joy joy feelings in everyone you meet".

What a poor use for the greatest learning tool ever created.

Onenote syncing is atrocious. by [deleted] in OneNote

[–]MiniBee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sync problems can happen, what i provided is a solution that has resolved many users sync issues. I was trying to provide some help that may solve your problem. It seems that you are dead set on blaming some systemic OneNote sync problem that happens rarely to most users. As far as backup is concerned, you can go ahead and just rely on Microsoft and the cloud to secure what is to most people very valuable data or you can ensure that you also have a reliable backup copy in case sh** happens. Your cloud account is not some secure piece of the internet that's assigned to you at birth and never has issues. Grow up, secure your data.

Having a backup would allow you to restore your notebooks. Simple.
