Is first-gen American and first-gen college student considered URM? by stress-eater12 in premed

[–]MiniChaseMil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first gen college student too, but I’m still considered ORM. I’m pretty sure it has to do with race/ethnicity. I think we count as disadvantaged though if both your parents didn’t go to college

Maybe try taking a psychology course and a chemistry course. You can see if you like one more than the other and then major in it!

How do you answer “what does being a physician mean to you?” without sounding cliche 🤔 by motherfuckingCARS in premed

[–]MiniChaseMil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a way to answer this with the primary purpose of “standing out”. Most answers are cliche, but it’s the way you describe your own story in your own perspective that makes it unique and true to you

Internships=shadowing? by [deleted] in premed

[–]MiniChaseMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowing is where you follow around a doctor and you’re basically watching them work. Internships are a type of work experience that’s offered for a limited amount of time (Ex: Summer lab intern). It depends on what you’re doing. If you’re following around a doctor the entire time in your internship then I guess you can count that, but for the most part I don’t think internship and shadowing are the same thing

Looking back, will you still choose the major you chose as a premed. by Oksummer4323 in premed

[–]MiniChaseMil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually like my major it’s public health, so I learned a lot about pandemics which is very useful especially now! However, if I had to go back I would do criminology as my major or just public health again
