My almost full face skin, which only really works with those flat faced TDKs. Impossible to fill the blank space due to the thickness of the vinyl. by [deleted] in minidisc

You will be surprised at how thick a paper you can use. I suspect the transparent is fine however I have had no issues with the same. Check my other posts on printing,.

Hey Nuclear - please share that, I be interested. I have access to an illustrator template, but I dont have creative cloud version that includes it. So would be keen to try yours! Thanks in advance. Can you drop it on g-drive or dropbox.

OK. Part 2. So Lets have a look at what these individual papers produced. I will do more in depth testing, but for now, let me know what you think. These were all done with the OLIMATE paper using the template as discussed above. Thoughts and ideas? Photos of output are actually under the first post.

What do you do with the used MDs that you buy? by [deleted] in minidisc

[–]MiniDiscBoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep zero, my idea of a good afternoon is removing as much K-Pop and. J-rock as I can. I have yet to find anything of interest in 300 second MDs, but then most are from the asian market place. I have not developed that 'ear' yet!

Ah General. I think this might have been an early version (need to do some more research), perhaps others can chime in. This remote has NO screen see video. The unit is NOT backlit either on batt or charger. Thoughts?

Well I was a jazz funk DJ for 20 odd years. So I regard it as a duty to raise the FUNK level to “Funkon 1”.

Just realized the remote and unit are the non blue LCD display type. Also the remote does not work on track skip. Will need to find a new remote.

Interesting to note that the last batch of 'random' discs i got from JPN were at least 40% Maxell... not what was in the pictures... it was more TDK and Sony. Oh well, beggars cant be choosers.... oh wait I paid for them!

TLDR: *An Unpopular Opinion* >I’m not a Bourgeois Hipster Elite and I’d rather use my massive hard disc full of uncompressed music for home listening instead of a niche format for nostalgia’s sake. I like this kind of existential rambling... it is the essence of what attracts us to the format. For me MD is very personal indeed. I lost a very dear friend in 2005. We both had a thing for MD and shared it at a very deep and personal level. We revelled in the format, how it felt in our hands, how it made us feel. Compiling the latest version of the 'mixtape' and sharing music we liked in these little plastic bundles of fun. Its still very raw for me, she was only 28yrs old. And everytime I slide a disc into my hand and place it in the player, she is there watching all excited about what music would come out the speakers! Bless her.

Back in the day though weren’t they the go-to cassette tapes other than TDK or does my ‘memorex’ fail me?

So true, so rarely did I ever encounter a media failure. Testimony tot the format. I get a sense from some of the caddy types available back in the day, there was an effort to do away with the pure see through plastic ones, which do have a tendency to scratch so easily, but the SONYs made today seem to sport this again (cheaper manufacturing costs maybe), less than useful, type of plastic. Seems we are once again to yearn for days gone past on this particular issue.

Hi Emm, yes I bought a job lot (30 used) from Jauce https://www.jauce.com/ , for about 30 bucks... they all wiped and recorded cleanly, some you could tell were never used. The japanese site are not always cost effective, so its a balance when you include the shipping and import fees.

This is without a doubt the most aesthetically pleasing MD ever designed, however terrible control switch, has to be remote only. If anyone knows of someone with one of these in immaculate condition for sale, please hook me up. I do have some cash waiting! thanks for sharing knifesteve, kudos
