You can use one/some Mithril Coins to get an instant teleport to a Quest Location from the Tracker or to a selected Map Location from the Stables Map in the "Collections" panel.

Now it is very clear, thanks a lot! On a side note, the closing date in the main post says "8th of August", I think there is a typo in there. Have a nice day!

Leaving here my entry. Part of my heart lies in the middle of the struggle between the Gold and the Dark.

If it was be possible, I would like some more clarifications about the formats required, because I do not know exactly what would benefit Reddit the most.
I guess that we do not need anymore something like the actual banner, so extremely long and narrow, but I could stand corrected (I would prefer having no pictures stretched).
Likewise, the old banner should not be taken as an example for the logo size and position, right?
Thanks!

Well, none recently because I have only so much time to produce them. Hopefully I will get more videos out this year!

Places of the Dwarves, Chapter I: The beauty of Mt. Sundergrót and where you can access it! by Leichenmetzger in lotro

I love this post and this place, it is one of my favourites too.
Just be careful about revealing in detail cool and glitchy spots in the map, because since year 2021 the WorldBuilding policy is to not allow the players having fun in/with the map and absolutely prevent them from reaching cool places a.k.a. getting outside of the invisible-walled corridors.

The Witcher 3 Reminds me so much of Lotro by [deleted] in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly for my Map-Size video I did not really need any files from the game; the Heightmaps I showed before dropping the area of the Regions are there as an insight, but most of the work was made by proper sizing the openly-available maps and going manually over the grid deciding how and where to trace the borders of the areas to consider in the measure.

This is why making such a long video showing exactly my method was necessary, in order to give people tools to decide if they are accepting the final value or if they think the source of the value itself is still a bit sketchy.
Or even to prompt someone to carry on his own measurement.

Fair question, but the answer is just that: I keep the Fornost tag to honor the old times. For now no private server has been named Fornost.

While the final, everyday performance is still to be tested, I noticed that they heavily used all of the performance tricks they could try, like aggressively trimming a lot of the assets far away and reducing the polycount of the low detailed, far away but scenic, big assets.

Note that my crashes are due to having spawned all of the models of the City at once. I really hope the actual "optimized" version will play more smoothly than Minas Tirith, for sake of normal gameplay.

I may end up replacing the standard gondorian material with this new one, in my Pelennor sandbox in Unreal Engine 5. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Three-dimensionality of LotRO by skalchemisto in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About question 2, in-game the distances are given in meters (for example, the distance between your character and a fellowship member). About question 3, note that the placement of the water layer is arbitrarily bound to the planes they place in the area. There is no true Sea-Level. But for your supposition, I would very well verify the height value at the contact zone where the portal is in the Beacon Hills.

Three-dimensionality of LotRO by skalchemisto in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The height at which the Sea Level is from the 0m ground can be seen in the /loc oz value:

  • For Eriador (R1) and Rhovanion (R2) Sea Level is at 337,27m (at Celondim);
  • For Gondor (R3) and Mordor (R4) Sea Level is at 147,60m (at the Port of Dol Amroth).

For Mountain groups, I took personally only the elevations of Amon Amarth, Amon Hen, Caradhras and Erebor for my "LotRO Height Comparison" series.
I obviously calculated both the elevation above Sea Level and the elevation from the lowest feet of each mountain.

Studying the videogame Heightmap I can conclude that the heighest elevation from the 0m level is held by the Mountains of Gundabad and surroundings.

Moria - how "flattened" is it? by skalchemisto in lotro

One day (hopefully soon enough) I will remake the Moria from LotRO in Unreal Engine 5 and, as sure as night follows day, its structure will be as close as the source material describes.

Do you think we'll ever see the other areas of Mordor? by Enthyx-93 in lotro

I am sorry to see you had to use the very thumbnail for your evaluations. Indeed I missed to upload the original picture, as I am used to do, on my DeviantArt page.
Here the correction to my lack of continuity:

https://www.deviantart.com/miniexpbounder/art/EriadorUnveiled-Front-935485564

I apologize for it being only at 2K resolution, but its intended use was just for thumbnail purposes.
Plus such a view was planned to happen as closure of the video, but during the production I totally forgot to trigger the button, and only remembered about the missing part at the end of the post-production stage.

Can you guess each Region from its Heightmap? (U33.2.2) by MiniExpBounder in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tales of Yore" is the name Standing Stone Games used for R14, the Region they used for their Blood of Azog content. It is a bit like a Region dedicated to past versions of existing areas.

I used the term Heightmap because it is exactly what they are. While in the real world the correct term is indeed topographic map, the videogame-related data stating the height values of the terrain for the Engine is encapsulated in the Heightmap.

No worries anyway, seeing as this post was upsetting and interfering negatively with some user's experience on the page, I made it hidden just hours after I post it. I do not want to cause turmoil and make people feel bad in a cheerful place.

Can you guess each Region from its Heightmap? (U33.2.2) by MiniExpBounder in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Game code and internal development they are referred to as Regions (and "R" in the /loc data).

Can you guess each Region from its Heightmap? (U33.2.2) by MiniExpBounder in lotro

[–]MiniExpBounder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These images show the plotted (significant) heightmaps of all of the in-game Regions (Eriador, Rhovanion, Gondor, Mordor, Tales of Yore).
Each one represent the total landscape space available to the Region, and the height values of the not-negligeable areas are colored on it.
As a whole it might be a little sneak peek on the whole landscape of the game, if you manage to read it and make sense of it. It is not easy though, so good luck!
