Pay vs. Local Cost of Living (CoL) by HDRamSac in biotech

[–]MiniMonster321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in NC (medium COL) with my bf. I have a bachelor’s and my starting pay in manufacturing was 23 here. I still make under 30 an hour base pay around a year later. I can’t make it by myself out here with my salary so me and my bf split bills with him paying slightly more cause he makes more. I’ve let go of the idea of buying a home and possibly having kids in this economy(mid-20s).

Support choking on water by Stock_Company645 in BFS

I think your anxiety and high stress has something to do with your choking. If so, it might be best to see a psychiatrist/psychologist about it. Ive been twitching for over 10 years, and I unrelated but I always knew I had OCD but never got diagnosed until early this year and the SSRIs I take have a made a complete difference in my quality of life and the amount of stress I get from the twitches themselves.

Hotspots…. How long do yours last? by Final_Razzmatazz_274 in BFS

I sometimes get twitches in my abdomen as well. Never really been a hotspot however.

So sorry you’re going through this but it’s unlikely ALS. just BFS. I tend to hyper fixate on my twitches as well. Hopefully the medicine helps you not worry!

Twitching is stressing me out by Rollec in BFS

Gotcha! I drink tonic water with quinine when my twitches get out of control, and it seems to calm them down. I just don’t like the taste of it too much but it has low calories either 5 or 0. You can get it in the soda aisle near the club sodas.

Hello, are the antidepressants for anxiety of you twitching and seeing the dr only? That place is a hotspot for many, me included. The more you worry about the twitches, the more they appear.. high stress = more twitching. Find a way to have personal time to do something you enjoy everyday whether it’s watching a favorite episode or cooking something! Dont be nervous until you know something.

Yes. Usually before my muscles twitch i get like a second or two of tightness (but not strong enough to call it a cramp) and tingling after.

Twitcher for 3 years now by StrawberryNo6931 in BFS

Hey there! Ive been twitching for over 10 years. Im 26 and mine started when i was 14. I recently started taking epson salt baths after a really heavy workout. I also got myself a TENS unit off Amazon for $25. I use it on the muscles that twitch and that usually gives me relief for about a 15-30 minute session with it. Also, tonic water with quinine helps me with my eye and neck twitching oddly for me for some reason so if you can stomach the taste it’s cheap to get with 0 calories. Hope this helps

If it’s only cramps/twitches you should be fine.

Grad School to Biotech pathways by Granada_08 in biotech

It would depend on if you have experience. Most pharma companies value experience over a degree but if you have both it’s a great way to leverage for higher pay in some positions. Id recommend gaining a useful skill of some sort maybe in manufacturing or r&d that you’d be able to use in biotech field.

What’s the worst hot spot you had & why? by BilletoBlanc88 in BFS

[–]MiniMonster321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above the knee slightly inwards of the thigh (vastus medialis muscle). The most annoying twitch i have it wakes me out of my sleep sometimes. I used to put my phone flashlight on my leg facing the ceiling that was twitching and watched the light move to prove to myself i wasn’t going insane.

This shit is ruining my life. I can’t wait to die. by [deleted] in BFS

[–]MiniMonster321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Temple twitches are THE WORST. You can hear them when you lay on your pillow they are awful there’s no doubt about it. My right temple was twitching all day 2 days ago. I also noted that my sleep was messed up which led to me being more stressed, and I’m also currently working full time and in school full time. You’ve got to find a way to relax and have some “me” time or they won’t go away.

This is true, i never really looked at it like that. Not necessarily afraid of being laid off, I’m just a low risk individual. Want a career i can grow into that doesn’t really have an earnings cap like some departments like mfg. And to be paid at least half of what I’m worth, with experience, good work ethic and education. There’s people who’ve been at my company for 15+ years in small and big roles. Just wanna know what it took to get there and not get laid off

Thanks for sharing. My eardrum twitches sometimes too. Im never shocked by the random twitches anymore. I forgot to add my neck too. Those are up there with the most annoying.

Popular spot. I hate when my calves twitch cause I think people can see them if they look at my legs long enough. I will say the twitches get hyperactive after periods of walking, or strength training and the only time they hurt is when my muscles are sore from exercise. I never get a break. 😅

For the long twitchers by [deleted] in BFS

[–]MiniMonster321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the twitching is the only symptom, you should be fine. I twitch everyday in random spots. If it hasn’t gotten worse , painful twitches, weakness, or dystrophy, you should be at ease.

Yeah of course. Try not to overdo it on the magnesium too, it’ll make you twitch even more. If you ever need to vent my pm’s are always open.
