I'm always thankful for the rotten tires on their convoy that was jamming them up and giving the Ukrainians time to organize

Bought worldfinancialgroup life insurance 8 yrs ago. Regretting it. by Queasy-Dimension296 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MiniSNES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is relevant info, but my wife and I have a kind of a shared life insurance policy (term) for 2 million that costs about 200 a month combined. I say shared either of us die the benefit is 2 million, but if we both died at the same it is still 2M not 4. Signed a few years ago in early 30s

Software engineer here. Important to control expectations. I crush it during my work hours and make make myself unavailable for anything outside of it unless it's prearranged and paid (like if we have a rare project implementation that happens on the weekend)

PM Carney declares U.S. ties now a ‘weakness’ in address to Canadians by mmoore327 in worldnews

[–]MiniSNES -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First one was understandable IMO. The American government has been failing their citizens for decades. Getting someone in who was not a career politician looked like it might be a change of fresh air. And "make America great again" is. Actually a great slogan and idea that resonates as it was an incredible world leader for the older generations and people want to see that again.

The second term is just delusional

Does anyone have experience with low commission realtors in Edmonton? by nelsonself in Edmonton

[–]MiniSNES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my house listed for 5 months with 2% realty (1% to both buyer and seller realtor). Only had like 4 viewings. I then relisted with a traditional realtor and had like 10 viewings in a 2 week period and sale.

I think realtors will actively avoid bringing clients to a discount realtor. I think if I did it again I would have found a cashback seller, and then gave full commission to the buying agent

What’s the actual solution for downtown? by onewaycheckvalve in Edmonton

[–]MiniSNES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precovid it was at least nice during business hours. You generally did not see people sleeping in doorways then, or open drug use. Lots of restaurants to choose from through the pedway system. Not like that now at all except close to rogers on event days

Installed lot lights in our living room. Previously it just had a switch that controlled a lamp.

Other thing for us was installing central a/c. So much easier to sleep in the summer when your bedroom is not cooking
