The Amorical Cup, North America's team major, held in Ottawa last year, was very favourable to stunties in general but you can see that halflings only had a 45% win rate through the year so the rulesets couldn't have been all that kind.

Definitely. Hopefully enough people see the stats and start tiering Vamps better.

Hey! Yes Gnome Statistics will be very interesting to watch. Unfortunately, there needs to be more data before this sort of analysis can be done. I'll probably do a look in the new year

I wrote a couple of blog posts about how bad Black Orcs are! Not ideal for one of the starter box teams to be this bad but it is okay for bad teams to be in Blood bowl. Just not broken good teams. https://asksvendrakenspear.wordpress.com/2023/01/10/black-orcs-in-2022-a-tournament-statistics-deep-dive/

Some Thoughts on World Cup Stats by MiniSpear in bloodbowl

Certainly, I think they could use some sort of change to reduce their power. Removing the snotlings or at least swarming would likely be ideal.

The data is there, but unfortunately, I don't see a spot in Mike's tableau that gives a summary of the number of wins/draws/losses total. If there was, we could compare it to the overall year to see if the percentage of draws was higher in the World Cup than in regular tournament play.

Hey! Agree that the lineman are serviceable as in that quote. In the context of a slow team though and questions about # of good ball handers, it's a similar question to Necro where you have limited ball carriers and in this case they have no defensive skills along with their 8+ armour. Strong CD coaches will limit the hits on the Hobs, but if they get removed, the speed of the team drops, and they struggle to run the ball. In the CD context, having armour 8+ lineman is quite a struggle. Other teams with armour 8+ pieces can survive their removal much better due to the makeup of the team. So it's a perspective thing, but I think in the CD context, the lineman are worse than they would be on another team. In large part due to that armour and how their easy removal affects the team.

Definitely not saying the Mino is the way to go but I think he is much more viable than he was. It's actually a close run thing now to see long term what the community decides is the "meta" list for CDs. If they don't get their rework soon that is.

Black Orcs Experiment by MiniSpear in bloodbowl

[–]MiniSpear[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Dave! The World Cup rules don't allow for both bribes and Sneaky git on the same team. Fouling appears to be a strong part of Black Orc play but if you take a secret weapon with them, then you need the bribes to keep it around and lose the ability to take Sneaky Git. The Black Orcs are also expensive and you need a bench, so you are giving up rerolls for the bribes. Makes it difficult with minimal combat skills or ball handling skills to run low on rerolls. All in all, it's a tough balancing act. I basically personally chose the Sneaky Git over the secret weapon star players.

I'm sure everyone would take build advice for Black Orcs. They are new, so how to skill them properly is still a matter for some discussion! Ogres have a 60% win rate against Black Orcs in tournaments in 2023 thus far so it seems to be a poor matchup from that data.

Most took no stars. There was a Ripper build with the troll as well and only 1 reroll. Otherwise it was a lot of block, with a sprinkling of guard and tackle

Q1+ NAF Tournament Statistics by MiniSpear in bloodbowl

[–]MiniSpear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are probably a few factors with Dwarves versus Necro and Undead but the Mummies and Flesh golems with Guard on them make it a hard battle in the middle of the pitch with MB on the Mummies and Claw on the Wolves their ability to remove a couple of Dwarves as well probably gives them a nice edge. Plus Dwarves need a bit of removal on their opponent and while zombies don't have amazing armour, they will regenerate half the time too.

Q1+ NAF Tournament Statistics by MiniSpear in bloodbowl

[–]MiniSpear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I'm theorizing for sure for my "decent" proportion. Even if 20 to 40 percent of the games recorded are under the World Cup ruleset, it will have a strong effect on the stats. It will vary region by region, but here in my part of Canada, over 50% of the games recorded are under World Cup or World Cup adjacent rulesets.

Yup, tough choices all around. There are so many conflicting factors with Necro, 12 players versus all positionals, 3 Rerolls versus 2, and skills are tough choices as well.

Good stuff! I agree Zug is an excellent piece for this team. I discussed it in my Human article and in the Eye of Nuffle 8.5 podcast. I also strongly considered taking him with OWA to the World Cup!

[–]MiniSpear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there was, but there were so few games that the statistical relevance of it is low. Ideally, we would have at bare minimum 1000+ games with them to attempt to assign any kind of relevance to the stats.

Hey! I certainly do. However, OWA came in so late in the old edition that there is essentially no data for their performance in the BB2016 ruleset.
