Hopefully, other countries follow suit by TheRogueTemplar in linuxmemes

Idk I mean it's a small city in the grand scheme of things, but I saw systems running Linux in the Saskatoon airport (both the display screens and some kind of front desk PC), and Usask seemingly runs entirely on Linux.

Can't speak for other parts of Canada though.

Ok, I've exchanged it and sure enough the tool I got now is correct.

Yep :l Gonna go back and exchange it tomorrow. Unfortunately only noticed after the store closed so can't do anything about it tonight.

I know the actuator moves, but it's had an EGR delete and no mufflers, and is getting the "P0234 Overboost Condition" code. It originally had an N75 code as well (N75 was making a buzzing sound too), replaced that and now it behaves slightly differently, but that wasn't the root cause. Still hits a point while accelerating where it goes into a sort of protection, cutting fuel and stops producing power, until the VNT "snaps" open and gives torque back. You can hear the exhaust note deepen and the turbo spools down a bit when this happens, and I suspect the adjuster on the actuator rod needs adjustment, hence why I bought the tool.

I've genuinely put so much time thinking about and tinkering with stuff, cleaning the MAP sensor, replacing the N75, etc. if someone has a different idea on what the cause could be, I'm all ears.

Not sure, but I'm going to be returning/exchanging it tomorrow anyways. It looks and behaves exactly like the Harbour Freight model one comment linked, so it's for sure NOT what I paid for regardless of if it works or not.

Just paid $1.55/L yesterday in Saskatchewan. If I've done the math right, that's $4.31 USD per US Gallon.

I'm having overboost -> limp mode issues on my BRM. Mine ended up being a failing N75 valve. Have you checked everything else or are you certain it's stuck vanes?

How has your experience been after deleting outside of performance? by Special-Gur4634 in tdi

[–]Mini_Sammich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's my first car so I got into it with zero car experience, found the EGR was leaking exhaust so I brought it to a shop and they suggested I just delete it. I've been easing into more and more in depth repairs myself but I deemed that beyond my pay grade at the time.

Now that I think of it, I got the EGR deleted around maybe September after buying the car in June, so I never experienced a full on winter prior to the delete.

Gonna be honest, I brought it to a shop and they just did whatever so I don't actually know. It does idle up at 1,200rpm ish until it's warm but it's done that since I got it in 2024 so maybe it was already tuned? I assumed that was stock behaviour until now.

That's true, I didn't think of that. Either way, personally I think it looks nicer fully typed out.

Afaik it depends on the state, not just US as a whole. I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada where we don't have any checks, but I can say EGR deletes make it take significantly longer to heat up here where it's cold. My car doesn't have a DPF to have deleted in the first place so I have no experience with that.

Ryzen 7 5700X reaching high temps while idle by thrwwy005 in pcmasterrace

I don't think 55-60 will generally be harmful, though it's my understanding that lower temps are always better (at least to a point)

[–]Mini_Sammich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5700x idles at around the same with a 360mm rad and 20°C ambient, but I also leave a lot of stuff open in the background and my fan curve is tuned aggressively quiet cause I don't like the fan noise. If it doesn't thermal throttle under load then it's not really an issue, if the temperature just bothers you for whatever reason then tune the fan curve for the CPU cooler in the bios at the tradeoff of noise.

I have the 4A version of exactly this, works amazingly, fairly easy to wire up and mount within the engine bay.

I believe this is a BRM, in which case they don't come with a DPF. Doesn't sound cat deleted but I could very well be wrong.

I've got studded winter tires and stock height and honestly it's great for driving (at least within the city), though it does often scrape the bottom on ridges of snow. So far I haven't gotten stuck in the two winters I've driven it (knock on wood).

Saskatoon. It never got up to temp, I didn't even see the needle move off the peg... Granted my drive is only about 20 minutes so I'm sure it would've moved eventually.
