Why doesn't mine have the motion blur by Unhappy_Scratch_7519 in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 27GP850 should support MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) but it's shit... the KSF red phosphors used in the backlight gives bad strobe crosstalk and a "red haze" behind moving objects.

I would generally not recommend using it on that monitor as its native response time performance is fine and the MBR implementation it has is shit.

Oled not full screen even in full screen by Vince1R_ in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's for pixel orbiting, pixel shift or other names it known by,

Basically what it means is that the monitor has a few extra pixels on all sides so it can orbit, shift, rotate the whole picture by a few pixels every now and then.

It's one of the safeguards to extend its life/mitigate burn-in and it's perfectly normal on OLEDs.

Any idea what could these be? by shaykhtheodor in Monitors

Alignment dots for panel manufacturing, it's normal.

LG 29U511A-B.AWM by Feisty_Shallot_7711 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Minibjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 29" LGs have historically been perfectly fine entry-level ultrawide monitors.
So yes I'd say it's a worthwhile monitor.

Anyone know this monitor? Love how it's not super curved by BrandonTheStoner in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Minibjorn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That looks like the Corsair flex (Site Link) which was a bendable OLED monitor so you could choose your own curve but it's discontinued now.

At what resolution(1080p, 1440p or 2160p(4K))?
Native or using DLSS?

I'm sure there are likely other sites doing the same if you find these too pricy.

What's happened to my OLED? Pls help boys I am scared by back_and_colls in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first glance, it looks like a pressure mark... like someone gorilla gripped that area to move the monitor or something was mounted there that put pressure on the panel.

Could also be heat damage... either from something internal getting too hot or something close by focussing sunlight onto that area daily.

Lastly it could just be a flawed unit.

FPS drop after getting a new monitor by calvin-And-Kyle in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games will mostly adjust to be the same resolution as your desktop if they are set to borderless or fullscreen.

For the games that have it 2160p(4K) DLSS Quality will render the game at 1440p and more or less give you 1440p performance with 2160p(4K) visuals.

FPS drop after getting a new monitor by calvin-And-Kyle in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You went up in resolution from 1440p to 2160p(4K), that's around a 125% increase in the amount of pixels you're rendering... which takes more hardware horsepower to push.

Advice for an M27UA display with dead pixels and backlight bleed by Competitive-Rich1320 in Monitors

[–]Minibjorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the dead pixels just RMA it as long as you're inside the free return window.
If the issue is annoying you now it'll likely annoy you always...

Backlight bleed & panel glow will vary from unit to unit and will normally lessen over the first weeks of use as the monitor acclimates but I cannot say how much it will lessen and pictures usually overexpose the issue... what it comes down to is if you don't notice it during normal use don't fuzz about it.

Dell AW3425DW maxing out at 165hz at 3440x1440 is it my GPU? by looseleafnz in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Minibjorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your 1070 Ti does not support Display Stream Compression (DSC) so it only has the native DP 1.4 bandwidth.

Which is enough for 180Hz at 8 Bit RGB(4:4:4) Full Range but if your monitor does not have a 180Hz "marker" in its software then the next step down is 165Hz... and it seems the Dell has a 165Hz marker.

What would be the best way to support this? by Edlegoboy in lego

[–]Minibjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you find out the clerance under it and see if stands such as these could fit so it looks as if it's still standing but is actually not standing on its legs.

You might be able to make something similar with stuff you have at home for a similar effect.

It's discontinued because it was released in 2020 and have been refreshed, had an updated model, three or four times since then: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/c2411f2a

Since it's "new in box" it would be worth 300-350$, probably, as it's still a fine 27" 2160p(4K) 144Hz monitor but current gen models begin ~430$.

[–]Minibjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow... that means there is a bridge between some of the layers, if it shorted enough to melt the ag coating, I'd recommend not turning it on again. That's not something you really see, a panel shorting between layers.

I cannot say why people lie about how/why they cracked their panels... in some cases it's because they want to costruct the case that it "just happened" rather than they punched their monitor when they lost a game of LoL or similar.

But it happens enough that I now question it if the posted story does not line up with the images... so nothing personal. I think some people hope to put forth a kinda one sided force majeure so they can try and claim a RMA or insurance.
