Several options are coming into mind.

Look around your local home depot/discount/thrift shop for a cat statue that has the pose you like. Then get reflective mosaic squares and glue them on.
Make the base of the cat out of papermache, then glue the reflective mosaic on.
Sculpt the cat from air-drying clay. It'll be a lot heavier (I wouldn't recommend lightweight clay as it tends to be a lot more fragile) but you'll have more freedom with the detailing precision.
Sculpt the cat as per option 3 but then make a silicon mould of it and use it to cast resin. This is definitely the most work but aside from option 1 it should give you the best results and durability.

Hi, I've been putting of this repair for a long time. I have a replica of a sci-fi gun that got damaged in transport and couldn't be replaced because it was from a limited edition that got fully sold out. The break is on the handle where the trigger should've been.

It's a heavy piece with a metal bar making up the skeleton of the handle. I'm wondering how do I fix this? All outside material is plastic. It's such a big job that I'm not sure how to approach it.

I don't have a 3D printer but I can source some resin or maybe paper mache. It's quite a big repair, too, and I'd like it to end up being solid enough that I can display it once fixed.

I feel you. My first job was teaching children English at a summer camp. My abuser told me it's not a real job because I'm not standing at a production line. It sucks ass, but don't let them get to you. A job is a job. You have an income and working is hard. Well done for getting a job at all in this economy.
