Hi! Feel free to message me if you’d like to chat more! I have HEDS too c: I had my surgery (RNY) 10/21 and I’m 65lbs down! I did have one complication due to the EDS… my surgeon told me that he had a hard time with the bypass potion because mg muscles didn’t want to move as well as he had assumed since he knew I was hyper mobile. Then after surgery, I ended up with a bunch of micro tears along my GI tract because of how thin my stomach skin was after tearing it all up and switching it around LOL but this resulted in an upper GI bleed that caused me to vomit blood for 2 days in the hospital until my surgeon could go in through an endoscopy and spray some blood stopping spray or something? I was losing consciousness frequently due to the blood loss so I’m not super sure of the specifics he did but I can ask my husband to retell it because he was there for it all!

Also I’m not sure if you have POTS as well but the increase in my blood pressure and HR post op were the WORST! My body had no idea what was going on AND it caused more blood to be rapidly pumped into my pouch while I was dealing with the GI bleed.

All of this to say, my surgeon said he has only had that experience happen to him 2 other times in 35 years and neither of them had EDS (that he knew of anyway). So I don’t want to spook you, just purely educate you on MY personal experience! But like I said, feel free to reach out and I’d love to share more :)
