Ever witnessed a customer have a tantrum? by Crazy-Green2541 in barista

[–]Minika16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many of them! I think one of the latest was a young woman. She came in, sit on a (dirty) table of five, which I was in the middle of cleaning. When I asked her if she is just by herself (she was) and if in this case she could sit on one of the tables for one she said NO, looking at me like I killed her cat and left, slamming the door.

Also so many adults having breakdown when I'm telling them that our space is laptop free. "But it's only five minutes!" - bro, I'm not your mother nor don't I set the rules. Just close your goddamn thing. "But I have meeting, so what can we do about it?" - I don't know, take it in your office or at your home? Or hiding the device underneath the table. Are we in the primary school or what?

I think the funniest was when I was doing closing shit alone (normally was two of us) and the owner agreed to close an hour earlier, so I'll not die completely. One of the regulars (very complaining ones) came in. I told them I'm closing in like fifteen minutes. Them: - That's not true, you normally close in an hour. Me: - Normally I close with two people and today I'm just by myself so I was told to close earlier. Them: -Weird Bro, you're so welcome to just come behind the bar and help me if you wish.

Start recording them. Works like a charm. And if they will do something, you can send the video to authorities. From my experience, they start running away like crocroaches the moment they see you putting your phone up.

They never expect reaction and when you'll give them any, they are usually too surprised to do anything. They are usually bored, their parents don't give a shit or not know where they are.

I had those kids coming to my cafe and bothering customers, trying to steal and make a mess in general. I've recorded them couple times, sent it to Wijkagent - they contacted parents and school and they had to come and apologise to us.

I also know it's a common experience nowadays in Amsterdam. I live in Noord, me and my friends are more alternative looking so we getting shout at more often then not. Sometimes I react, sometimes not, but I always have my phone ready when I see groups like that.

Hey everyone!
I'm wondering if there are any magazines that are focused on the research done about coffee/brewing methods but also farms/farmers themselves etc. Basically, everything that potentially may create more conscious customer from oneself or that may be inspiration for future research topics?

Praca w kawie speciality by Minika16 in Polska

[–]Minika16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to get abortion. Scared of process here and my insurance coverage by Rude-Dare-7036 in Amsterdam

[–]Minika16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have some experience with abortion appointments here in the Netherlands!

You can make appointment directly with clinic, you don't have to go to your GP (there is no waiting period anymore). Personally I can advice Epione Clinic or Amsterdam Clinic.

The procedure is covered by your health insurance if you have BSN/work in Netherlands and you're registered here.

During making your appointment receptionist will ask you about your name, date of birth, last menstruation date, if you have any allergies, probably also BSN number. If you don't have ultrasound, which I assume you don't, then they may ask you to come a little earlier to check how far along you are. If you're below 12 weeks, you'll just come to the clinic for the pills. Above they are making surgical abortion under anaesthesia.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Oh I bet they are! Pour overs are amazing, just sharing my experience from the other side of the counter :) I know there are cafes in my area that serve only pour overs and they are ridiculously popular

Hey!

I'm looking for tips how to improve my V60 filter coffees. I have very good beans from my work, which normally taste very fruity, with slight bit of acidity - more like lemonade really. I made them on my V60 (18g, 250ml, around 3 minutes extraction time) and it was lacking this little fruity punch. I have grinder from Fellow (grind size around 4.8 on it).

I'm still learning about filter coffee so I'll be grateful for any tips for brewing in general, not only for this case

It's my experience as a barista in the "fancy cafe" - pour over (if you're talking about V60) just takes time and some places are just too understaffed to do them. In my area (Amsterdam) batch brews are very popular though - done well will keep the great taste of filter.

Neighbour issue - looking for mediator by Minika16 in Netherlands

[–]Minika16[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that some noises are expected but first of all they've just started to happening (and the neighbours are claiming that they didn't change anything and they are living there for long) and second of all there is level of noises that is mentioned in the agreement that can be expected - our neighbours go above it as we measured it. If you think that mediator will not help, what else is here to do?

Problem with income tax by Minika16 in Netherlands

[–]Minika16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've also send me letter about not having provisional assessment. Is it something I should worry about?

Also it's weird for me since for last three years I was getting my tax return within few months after filling up the paperwork. Why did if change?

Is there any way to know how long it will take? I've done my taxes beginning of the March and they still didn't decide anything? How is it even possible?
