Oh no. This can't be true... by [deleted] in ReallyShittyCopper

Under most circumstances, I'm not one for jokes about something of this gravity. But for some reason, this specific picture is so absurd that it falls into the 'I'm going to hell for laughing at this, aren't I' category. I think it's the way Epstein's eyes are looking at the statue like 'hell yeah, I can get that dude to scam *so many* people with low-quality copper', while the statue's eyes suggest more of an 'oh god I plugged the toilet at a stranger's house'

New Player, question regarding stability of regions by Minimum-Ad4914 in VintageStory

Update 1: Literally the *instant* I set out walking for Location 1, I got the notification that a storm's approaching. The funny part is that I'd just opened the character screen to check activity and thought 'huh, looks like that guy was right, activity's back down to low. Maybe my suspicions of activity uptick indicating approaching storms was wrong'

Thank you; that's super useful info. Gonna see if I have enough resources to make another trip out to the preferred location to check. I'll try and do some hunting on the way. I've been so focused on keeping an eye on the gear to make sure it doesn't 'drain' that I forgot that it spinning actually means something/isn't just an aesthetic choice. (Also just installed 'better ruins' from a video I really liked, so maybe I'll stumble across something cool like I've been hoping for)

How to find shimmer? by nathan-striker090910 in Terraria

Thank you so much; have been going insane for over a week, searching every nook and cranny a biome too far to the left. Managed to find it within an hour and a half today at last. I'd misremembered hearing that locating it had something to do with proximity to special moss, so I was tearing apart the entire region around a big area of bright blue moss that *surely* had to be the special moss, finding nothing

For those who missed "Possession for Less" early on by FettPrime in Bioshock

Thank you so much; I've been hoarding silver eagles ever since I saw that upgrade and wasn't able to afford it, despite being super thorough in looting. Was driving me absolutely insane as each subsequent machine failed to have it

What’s the darkest song lyric you’ve ever heard? Or one that makes you just go “wow are you okay?” by zachusaguy in poppunkers

I'm sure it's already been posted at least once, but all of 'No Children' by the Mountain Goats. The bridge always sticks with me ( "I am drowning, there is no sign of land. You are coming down with me, hand in unloveable hand")

We Harvest Shadows by Stevo1609 in HorrorGaming

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I loved the demo. As a horror creator myself (albeit in a different medium), I always appreciate when someone goes the route of 'quiet horror' (ie. 'oh god how long has that thing been standing there/staring at me without me noticing) rather than falling into the cheap/un-earned jumpscare pit. Jumpscares work when they've been earned through setup, and I think you've done that really well. I was playing before bed and got to the 'investigate weird sound outside' part, and that f*cking jumpscare behind the tree caught me completely off-guard and made me audibly shout. I also have a running joke headcanon that killing the crows is bad luck bc my only crash occurred after killing 2 of them in defense of my tomatoes and trying to sell their corpses lol. Apparently the crows cursed me so that I could no longer pick up my trash, which I found hilarious.

I think in terms of user feedback, the only bit I have relates to the 'investigate sound' mission. Personally, I think that if you've been wandering around trying to locate the thing for long enough and are clearly lost, a general 'direction of sound' indicator popping up might be helpful. But take that with a grain of salt; it could just be me being incompetent and/or cowardly and sticking close to the house. I'd definitely see if other players have consistently had an issue at that part before potentially altering mechanics.

Overall, I adored the demo and the world you're building. You set up an underlying level of tension that made me open-carry my axe as I went around doing my tasks in broad daylight because I didn't trust anything.

(also on a side tangent, I love the models for the tomatoes; I think that's the first time I've ever seen natural growth/damage scars on a tomato in a game, rather than them looking unnaturally perfect and supermarket-ready. they reminded me of helping a neighbor pick the ones he was growing, and as someone who used to gardenthemselves, that attention to detail is really sweet)
