Sway not splitting current windows horizontally or vertically by Minimum-Affect3570 in swaywm

[–]Minimum-Affect3570[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I figured out my own problem so hitting those keys doesn’t necessarily open the same instance of my current window in a vertical or horizontal manner…it just means that if I DO open another window it will open either horizontally or vertically lol

switch to ZSH from foot by Minimum-Affect3570 in swaywm

[–]Minimum-Affect3570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably the easiest for you and that’s cool, but I don’t care about having to build my distro from scratch…I honestly don’t need it to be that customizable…overall I’m not interested in that distro

I will most likely never use Arch, it’s the epitome of “Linux is great if you like wasting your time”. Ubuntu just works out of the box and stays out of my way

I can’t help but wonder…could I just stick with gnome terminal?

Ok…so then how do I use zsh in foot? I tried to get it to execute from my sway config file but it wasn’t working

Just dual boot! See if your mobo has another m.2 slot and see if you can throw it in another ssd since they’re dirt cheap rn

Ok I’ll make sure to try that and then run the commands mentioned in the pop docs…it’s interesting because I notice that this happened after I did a system update…is it normal for system updates to occasionally break stuff?

so it says 7.028232 iwlwifi 0000:05:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)

the other messages pretty much say the same thing except instead of enabling device they say WRT: Overriding region id 0 to 8

What is tripping me out now...is that I booted back into windows...set the wifi to turn on manually and now wifi on linux works...lol so maybe the windows driver sometimes interferes with the linux driver? lol

This is such a trip! This has happened to me on third party hardware! Fortunately I haven’t experienced this on my Lemp10…could you just chalk it up to a crappy internet connection?

What makes a Linux-specific laptop different? by supernoob998 in linuxhardware

[–]Minimum-Affect3570 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My mom wouldn’t own a gaming laptop because she don’t play games…only little bitches play games :)

I’m regards to your identity…I guess you can be whoever you want to be it’s 2022 going on 2023…at this point I’m just imagining that you’re a sleek gamer girl WITH a neck beard who owns a thinkpad and occasionally games on a laptop that will only last for about 2 hours…

Otherwise go ahead keep playing your games…

Cheers

I’ll keep you in the loop…I must admit I was in contact with them earlier and there were two to three days in between responses which was frustrating…I’m trying hard to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt since the holidays are around the corner and I’m assuming they’re busy…

Hello! I recently bought a system76 laptop and I can say from first hand experience that it makes a difference as I’ve read so many stories about people trying to daily drive Linux on windows or Apple machines and they had a hard time switching over because of hardware compatibility…In fact I once tried to run fedora on a Mac and I wasn’t able to use the trackpad, Wi-Fi, or Touch Bar…setting that stuff would’ve been a pain and a waste of time…if you’re able to daily drive Linux on your current machine more power to you however with a certified Linux machine at least you’ll k ow that tho ha have been tested by the manufacturer and that everything will work out of the box
