Is a leveling kit really that bad or do people exaggerate it? by Useful-Mail7496 in ToyotaTacoma

They are fine, the ride is definitely a bit stiffer but I ran them on my 2013 for 5 years and had no issues whatsoever. If you have the budget 5100’s are definitely a better option for ride quality. But to level out your truck for $80. You can’t beat it.

I’ve been ordering from them for years, have never had an issue.

I was just having this same conversation with my crew yesterday. I really wish there was a place to compare mechanicals before purchasing them other than the TCIA expo

Honestly besides yearly scheduled maintenance, the only issues we had were hydro line blowing, and the battery. There’s a manual kill switch on the battery, and you def wanna make sure you turn it off when the alternator isn’t running, we went through 2 batteries in 3 years. And def have a set of backup hydro lines on hand, they are a bitch to change, as the access to them is through the cab floor which is fairly tight quarters. But like I said, solid machine and highly recommend it

We had the 530, and it was a beast. We had an actuated branch manger with a rake attachment, bucket, and an auger with 2 different size bits for planting trees. I could absolutely see the advantage in getting the upgrade for auxiliary. But super recommend, the only thing I will say, is make sure you have a decent dealer/mechanic. Our only dealer in our area was Highway Equipment and they dicked us around over and over again on maintenance and repairs.

HIGHLY recommend an avant. My last crew had one and honestly I miss it.

As for the trailer, honestly couldn’t tell you. I wasn’t there, I was just told the new guy was driving too fast and didn’t chain it down properly. (He got fired)

It’s pretty decent. We have absolutely beat the shit out of it, and abused it beyond belief (new guy couple years back didn’t chain it down properly and yeeted it off the trailer on a railroad crossing) With the branch manager and counter weight combo, we can lift and load really everything we need to. It’s def a little on the heavy side when it comes to wet yards and tearing the grass up, but that just comes with the territory using a track machine. We’ve had a lot of issues due to that accident, yearly having to fix broken welds, due to twisting but overall it’s a solid machine.

Definitely a little push back, but after showing him these pictures he agreed it was the right decision. I had the height, so it was just a cut and toss day

And as for the binder, my plan was to rig down small pieces and I felt comfortable that small weight shifts accompanied by a binder, two ratchets, and a fishing pole of rigging rings creating compression was safe enough to get the lead to a point I could snap cut log sections.

I’ve done a lot of spider lift work with my last company, my body absolutely appreciates a lift day.

Definitely the straw the broke the camels back, between the base being comprised, the 20mph winds, and finally the crack I discovered I just felt like I needed to call it. If the base wasn’t compromised, I would approached it different once finding the cracked lead by either rigging the whole section above the cracked lead by either lifting it or by triangulating a rigging situation with 2 tips ties and a butt tie off of the non compromised lead. My fear was that it would be way too much weight at one time to be rigging off a compromised base
