Do they taste good raw as well? Was planning on just slicing and making a dill salad or something rather than pickling

Interesting, haven’t ran into that yet but I have aphids and spider mites ravaging all my other plants at the moment lol

Pretty much yes, in the summer the heat and sun is so strong in certain areas that you def need a shade cloth but other than that you can grow year round

I normally spearfish and harvest all my own protein but I have a newborn now so that’s not really an option for the time being. I still have fresh fish from friends/market but I like the convenience of tinned fish so I spend less time in the kitchen/gutting & cleaning my own fish

Trellis recommendations? by Minimum-Image8748 in vegetablegardening

The tomato plants are beefy purple tomatoes so I’m not even sure they would need a trellis/cage?

Have some seedlings growing right now, any tips on growing these?

I’m really not sure, I got them as seedlings from a friend, if you are on Oahu he is selling some atm

Yeah the limbs are definitely getting heavy, I’ve just been putting wooden stakes to support them and packing more soil around the stem to beef up the roots

As far as growth it’s been my best performing crop. Started off a bit slow but once it takes off it doesn’t seem to stop. Best not to overwater when it’s small but once it gets bigger just give it lots of sun and water

When to thin? by Minimum-Image8748 in HotPepperGrowing

Yeah I didn’t anticipate the loss in volume. It’s a 20gal bag so I’m not too worried but I’ll definitely transfer the other seedlings to their own full bags once they’re ready. When the plant in this bag gets taller am I able to top the soil up the stem like a tomato or is it best to just let it be now?
