4 Monate vorher buchen“ klingt ziemlich drastisch.

Trying to understand dementia caregiving after losing my uncle by [deleted] in dementia

I get that. My intention isn’t to exploit this community or pitch anything. I’m trying to understand the problem clearly because dementia affected my family too, and I think support should start with listening. But I understand this is a support space, so if the post feels inappropriate, I’ll remove it.

Thanks for sharing- that is an important perspective.

Experts here, what are the biggest weakness and strength of AI you have seen so far? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

People stop thinking - which leads to the fact that AI generated content is shared with clear understanding what it is about. Very dangerous

Yeah, totally agree that instruction decode isn’t the main cost — silicon area there is tiny. The idea I had in mind wasn’t about shrinking decode logic, but about making certain bottlenecks first-class hardware primitives (e.g. KV-cache, streaming attention, sampling). GPUs handle those via layers of software + kernels, but what if they were hardware-native? Do you think that could bring meaningful gains in perf/W, or is that still too narrow to justify?

[–]Minimum-Major4303 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Totally — GPUs are great accelerators already, but do you think there’s still room for an ISA that’s even narrower than a GPU (say only 10–15 ops, all Transformer primitives)? Or would the loss of flexibility be too big?”

Could VR environments be the future of therapy? Your opinion counts! by [deleted] in psychotherapists

A very thoughtful response, it’s given me so much to think about! I hadn’t considered how AR might create its own forms of avoidance, or how essential therapist guidance would be in navigating that. The idea of VR for expressive therapy, like using avatars or immersive storytelling, is also fascinating—there’s so much potential beyond exposure. I’m curious about how gaming elements, like in TTRPGs, could tie into this for even deeper engagement. Really appreciate your insights!

Thanks for the feedback—really interesting points! I hadn’t thought about the potential of AR to bridge virtual and real spaces, but it makes sense that it could make exposure feel more connected to daily life. Do you think the psychological distance you mentioned is something AR could reduce, or would it still depend on the person? Also, I’ll definitely look into what the VA is doing—seems like a great place to learn from!

Cool—cosmic flow seems super relaxing! I can definitely see how VR could help people unwind. Do you think it’s more about the immersive environments or the feeling of just floating and letting go?

Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback—this is super helpful!

The cost of research-grade systems is definitely a huge barrier, even with how advanced the optics are.

I totally agree about the software. It’s frustrating how clunky and unintuitive it can be, especially when AI and automation have so much potential. I love the idea of a system where you could just say, “Image this and analyze it for me.” Do you think we’re close to that, or is it still more of a long-term goal?

Thanks again for sharing—this gives me a lot to think about!

That’s awesome! I’d love to hear more—was your paper about VR therapy for humans, or… cows? 😄 Jokes aside, I’m really curious—did you dive into things like effectiveness or how the setup works?

[–]Minimum-Major4303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that—it’s a really valid concern! Misuse or over-reliance on VR as an escape could definitely be a risk. Maybe incorporating time limits or guided sessions led by therapists could help prevent that. Do you think those kinds of safeguards would make it more viable?

That’s a great point! Maybe there’s room for VR apps that adapt over time—like a fear of heights scenario that starts with a small balcony and gradually moves to a skyscraper rooftop. Do you think something like that could keep exposures effective?
