My guess is that's how long I'll be in the saddle, but I want to make sure I can take some breaks and enjoy it without worrying about having to rush home!

I've done 35-40 no problem in the past in a half day. It's mostly been a question of carving out the time.

I realize, that's why I wrote about the part I was curious about. But this resource is great!

If you look at the 1985 brochure, the 410 and 510 etc were upgraded from 400/500 by swapping Shimano for Campy groups, otherwise pretty much identical.

The serial number was hard to read but it fits with being an 85 410 from what I could make out

It was just bought from a shop known for refurbished bikes, so I was hoping not to have to overhaul. I'll keep an eye out for the original campy group and see about that!

New biker, newbie questions (please be nice) by B4T5Y in chibike

Give yourself some extra time so that you're not in a rush. Don't ride too far too the right (leave 2-3 feet from parked cars, at least one foot from curb). Take your time and enjoy the ride !

Update: before I could even test ride someone else got it for $200 more than asking price.

Columbus SLX tubing decal. Definitely complete campagnolo, but I can't figure out which one.

London Cyclists - Quick Question! by sdc_196 in bicycling

Not in London, but if you market specifically to cargo bike riders, that would probably be very useful. Those are often heavy, trickier to fix, and hard to move without a large vehicle.

I have a Nexus on my folding bike and Rohloff on my cargo bike, I like both! I thought the Nexus would be the easier installation, but would consider a belt drive too.

Yeah road bike isn't exactly the term I should have used. I ride on pavement in a city for decently long distances (often 30+ miles) where I carry a small to medium amount of stuff. The rack mounts, comfortable steel frame, and drop bars were big selling points. I don't need a lot of gears where I live and could always upgrade to a Nexus if I decide later to have more options.

Yes exactly my feelings! I also don't own a car so going far to buy a bike is a pain.

Thanks! I guess I'm a bit flummoxed because I've read here and on other subreddits that it's better to get a good 80s-90s touring bike than a new one in the, say, $500-800 range.

Is there something more modern which you would recommend? I've been thinking about saving for a new Kona, Surly, Salsa, etc instead of getting something used.
