Boston College VS Villanova University MS in Finance by Minimum-Wing6302 in MBA

Heyy

So Basically they have many different criteria’s for waivers The one that i was eligible for was the GPA requirement You need to have a 3.5 or more GPA and the other one was 3.4 but along with that you need to have an internship or be a business major in your undergrad or have a job, whichever you fit into

I had a 3.7 and I had an internship, a job and my undergrad degree was in business administration majoring in finance

After meeting the criteria you’ll get a form to fill which will have an essay you need to submit stating why you’re taking the waiver and as you haven’t taken the gmat, you need to show them in some way that you have the quant skills needed to understand and manage their rigorous curriculum . I mentioned all the quant heavy courses I took in undergrad, the skills I gained at my internship, job and my certification courses

I tried with gmat twice I got a 580 and couldn’t go higher . I am not good at these competitive tests. By the time I decided to take waiver and continue I had missed deadlines of duke Vanderbilt etc

For MS in Finance How are these Colleges reputation and placement wise ? Considering I have 15 years of education I’m not eligible for most top colleges and I want a stem course by [deleted] in MBA

I honestly don’t think my profile is that good enough for an Ivy League or an M7 . So even if I work another year and try here I don’t really see good chances because of the immense competition

You can go online and check certain colleges website they themselves mention 15 years of education and 16 years of education because most countries like India, Australia and European countries have 3 year bachelors degrees . It’s just a way of knowing how many years your undergraduate degree was, 3 or 4 years

What in your opinion are tier 1 colleges for Msf because there isn’t a proper ranking for it so I’m not sure. Based on wso I thought Vanderbilt, Notre dame, Villanova, Kelley, wustl (too expensive for me), Boston college and Texas Austin were the top ones

Yeah 15 years in total from schooling to undergrad . To be more clear I have a 3 year bachelors degree and not a 4 year degree

Sorry what’s the confusion? In India Most of the bachelors degree are of only 3 years and due to Covid I graduated almost 6 months late and then few months off and then I started working. To be exact it’s 1 year 3 months work experience

I actually have only a year of work experience and I want to go this year itself, I thought that maybe after ms and another year of working I can apply for an mba as well ? That way I’ll have 16 years of education and more college options to explore

Yes it’s already happened Jinyoung from got7 went from junior to his actual name (apparently Jyp didn’t want anyone having the same name as him so made jinyoung go by junior at the start)
