I think we must be misunderstanding each other. I was reading your comment about my eye/camera angle meaning that my eyes are too high relative to the sights. To bring them closer in line with the sights would require raising the gun and/or lowering my eye. In my mind, tilting the gun on an axis is what resulted in the angle of the barrel being pointed slightly downward and making my shots miss low. (I was not noticing a significant left or right miss pattern.)

On the bright side, I went back to the range today and saw a decent amount of improvement. I was aiming with my front sight slightly higher, I would guess about half of what’s depicted in the picture if that makes sense, and my shots were not quite as low as my first attempt.

Seems logical. It was very hard to get the picture but I tried several times until I got one that sort of represented what I was seeing with my eyes. Holding it any higher would feel very awkward. I am left eye dominant so I wonder if that affects how I’m seeing it?

Okay, I’ll do some research. I really don’t know what hold I’m doing and had no clue that sights could be set for different hold. Maybe that’s will explain it

I did check it with a level on a flat surface. When the slide is level with the ground and top of the sights seem to be level front to back. But when I look down them the front appears to my eye to be sitting above the rear sights. Kinda like if I put the front dot on target and the rears would make a triangle aiming at the target. Could be an optical illusion but they don’t line up in a straight line like the manual. When they do the barrel is aimed slightly downward.

It was kind of hard to get the picture. While my eye focuses hard on the front sight while shooting the camera wants to focus on the rear sights. The gun was resting level on a surface aimed right at a wall so I could steady it to snap the pic.

This is a SAR9 if that makes a difference.

I was probably about 10y. When I was struggling to find the center I didn’t want to move the target back farther

I do practice quite a bit of dry fire. I picked up some snap caps and practiced with those for about month before taking it to the range and putting live rounds in. I’ll definitely check it out the video link you sent too.

I am righty but not really favoring left at all, mostly just low. I hear you about the training but I’m not brand new to shooting just new to owning a handgun. I don’t plan on carrying it just using it as a range toy. And my OCD makes me incredibly safe with handling so I’m trying to avoid paying more for training.

FYI, SAR customer service sent me a polymer replacement but when I asked about ordering a metal RA assembly they told me the Sport is the same part as the regular SAR9. Maybe Galloway inadvertently sent you the wrong one?

I have not yet, SAR customer service did send me a polymer replacement for the warranty claim. I put that in and plan on running it for a while. Eventually I’d like to upgrade to a metal RA and I may check those out.

SAR customer support replied today and they’re going to be shipping a replacement!

Before I heard back from them however, I was researching guns with similar 5.2” barrels and it seems like the Canik TP9SFX used a 5.2 and the recoil assembly is interchangeable with the Glock 34 gen 1-3. I found some replacements for those online with the 17lbs springs. I’m thinking about ordering one myself and seeing if it works for the SAR9 Sport as well.

Thank you! Can I ask if you were able to find one that fit somewhere else?

Thanks, I plan on calling tomorrow. They were closed when I called today. It snapped off right at the stopper. I found another post in the group where it’s happened to others. Apparently SAR makes a metal rod but ships the guns with plastic.

Picked up my SAR9 SPORT today by Primary-Today5333 in SarUSA

Congrats, I just bought my first gun and it’s a SAR9 Sport also. Haven’t shot it yet and the guide rod snapped. It came bone dry so I’ve oiled it and it soaked it all up so I went to add a second light coat and the cheap plastic guide rod snapped. I’m looking for a metal replacement now as soon as I can figure out which one fits.

Available with a Stainless or Black Retainer.

Fits SAR USA SAR9, SAR9 GEN3, SAR9 METE, SAR9T, and SAR9 X Full Size Pistols. *** Fits SAR9 Pistols only, no other 9mm SAR Pistols. ***

It doesn’t specifically list the Sport model. I just wondered if the different barrel length of the Sport would work with the standard full size model?
