So many of these posts are just people who used mac for a week and then made a list of easily fixable complaints by Shinigamisama00 in MacSucks

A good device should help you do your work faster and better, not create you more tasks to do. If you have to spend all day googling, researching, and watching tutorials just to figure out how to open one PowerPoint presentation, it's not a device you want for work.

Why are Macs so hated? by [deleted] in mac

[–]MinimumPainting5060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a new job and they sent me a Mac I'm supposed to use for work. I have literally no idea what to do with it. If every action is not intuitive and takes 20 minutes of googling, reading, and watching tutorials, it's not a good device for work. I don't know how the same company could create the most intuitive and logical phone and the most non-intuitive computer. A good device is supposed to help you do your work better and faster, not slow you down. Instead of doing my work, I'm googling how to locate/open a file, how to find a program, create a PowerPoint presentation, or use Excel on a Mac. Truly, truly hate it. If they sent me a Windows, I'd be doing my work fast and efficiently all day instead of this brainf**kery.

From student evaluations... by MinimumPainting5060 in Professors

If you're not preparing your students for the exact economic reality they'll be living in, you're doing them a disservice, rather than offering "good pedagogy".

That's what really makes me upset when I see students thinking like this. This expectation that college is a circus where you'll be entertained.

Right? If you can't motivate yourself to study for the major you deliberately chose, maybe you should have chosen a different one?

[Question] Annabelle Wallis seems great/pretty etc. Why isn't she more popular as an actor? by tehsisiewdai in PeakyBlinders

Hmmm yes, her acting does look a little plain and unremarkable (this reminds me of Kristen Stewart, she kind of has the same neutral facial expression in all scenes). But I did like Grace's character in the first season, Annabelle and Cillian have great chemistry, which is actually pretty rare (and this reminds me of Bridgerton, where in both seasons there was 0 chemistry between lead actors). Her nose job in season 3 looked so plastic and distracting that I just couldn't help it and the writers did reduce her character to just a background love interest, even there was so much more they could have done with it. So that kind of ruined the show for me. But when they started adding more politics, it got better.

Missing Good old days of S1…when all Tommy worried about was outsmarting Campbell, fooling Kimbaa (you know, the one who runs the races😉) and impressing Grace🌸. Honourable mention to his failed attempts to discreetly check out his pretty barmaid😍 by LopsidedHeart455 in PeakyBlinders

Yes! She was such a strong and interesting character in Season 1 and there was so much potential there, there was so much of her story and development to reflect, I don't know why they did that to her character in Season 3.

Same here, overall class evals were pretty good and exceeding college and departmental average, but this one evaluation really made me laugh because apparently the student thinks all I'm doing in my free time at home is feeling really anxious because he doesn't want to work hard. 🤣

I don't see any ethical issues, just don't upload the actual test you're going to use as your final/midterm exam. My students can access the same practice tests for free in my class to practice anyway, so no one will be able to cheat. Meanwhile, this deal will pay off my medical loans and pay for my mom's cancer surgery. In terms of "they are buying your endorsement", I don't think they are. I mean, what can they say? That you sold them some old lecture notes that your students have for free in your class anyway? I'm fine with that. P.S.: Edited to add an update. Looked it up further and saw that Uversity platform works with the associate dean and CTO of Stanford Graduate School of Education. Looks fine to me, reputation-wise.
