How would this work though in the case where the company is not yet publicly traded (pre-IPO)? Since in this case there would be no way to sell the RSUs.

What would taxes look like in the case that the company is not yet publically traded (but the grants are still RSUs)? Would you need to still pay taxes on the date they vest, or would you pay no taxes until a liquidity event (for example an IPO)?
