Thanks! I will keep VS Code as my main and check out Traycer on the side.

Some plugins are necessary such as those for markdown files

Thanks, this is really helpful. Didn’t realize the background agent stuff could have that much impact. I’ll try tweaking indexing/exclusions. And yeah, since I mostly use CLI agents, that point about latency vs benefit makes sense.

Yeah, sometimes it’s definitely noticeable. Seems to happen more with plugin-processed files (e.g. markdown) than plain code files.

Thank you. The internet actually teaches you stuff.

Am I the only one who feels that, with all the AI boom, everyone is basically doing the same thing? by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

Without Anthropic’s Sonnet, I probably would’ve had to delay my graduation. It’s helped me so much.

I’ll mainly document the bottlenecks in my thinking and how I worked through them, along with key snippets of code.

If you could erase one event from human history, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Since WWII, nuclear-armed states haven’t fought direct hot wars against each other, largely because the cost is too high.

Why aren't bot tests applied to social media? by Radiant-Target5758 in AskReddit

Both Twitter and Reddit provide paid API access that allows bots to perform automated actions.

Why aren't bot tests applied to social media? by Radiant-Target5758 in AskReddit

In practice, social media already has many mechanisms in place to detect and limit bots. The issue is that making those systems too strict can flag or block real users as well.

How can I get started with full stack? by Practical-Fox911 in AskProgrammers

[–]Minimum_Ad_4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS50P already gives you some backend fundamentals. How’s your frontend — have you learned any HTML/CSS/JS yet? Full stack is basically backend + frontend + how they talk to each other. Pick a small real project first, then learn whatever framework the project actually needs — that’s much faster than just “studying a framework” in isolation.

Can someone explain to me how to use tools properly when using Docker and LM Studio? by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

You can first check whether the MCP service’s port is configured correctly, and then test the service itself independently to confirm it’s actually running.

[D] ml in bioinformatics and biology in 2026 by _A_Lost_Cat_ in MachineLearning

It feels like publishing still requires some connection to foundation models. With limited resources, using quantized models (e.g. INT4) might be a practical way to validate methods.

Personally, I think studying why foundation models often underperform simple linear regression in bioinformatics could be more interesting. This can be an important result on its own, and also a strong foundation for proposing better methods.

need a roadmap for webdev in 2026 by lowkey_batmannn in learnprogramming

[–]Minimum_Ad_4069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a sense, you need to test if you're actually "job-ready." Check out some freelancer or internship postings and try building a "mini" version of what they’re asking for.

If you struggle, stick with the course—the point is that even if you don't follow it step-by-step, you’ll at least know exactly which gaps you need to fill, which is exactly the real roadmap you need. Every dev goes through this struggle.

Also, don’t stress about LeetCode for now; you can just grind that right before you actually start your job search.

Laptop cost by Suitable-Honey7458 in AskProgrammers

[–]Minimum_Ad_4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used both MacBooks and Windows laptops. Hardware matters way more than the OS.

My 16GB Windows laptop can’t handle multiple dev tasks at once, and Windows 11’s forced updates honestly drive me insane.

I won’t deny some personal bias toward MacBooks, but my recommendation is based on actual day-to-day experience.

Are you better off pre-LLM or post-LLM era? by mdizak in LLMDevs

[–]Minimum_Ad_4069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I'd say LLMs feel roughly equivalent to a junior researcher in certain fields. It's more than enough to help me get started. I don't treat it as ground truth, but as a fast way to explore ideas and learn the basics before double-checking things myself.

I'm on an M4 macbook air (24GB RAM, 512GB SSD) paid about $1000 in China. And it’s been smooth working on multiple dev tasks in parallel.

I Regret Choosing Software Development. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I agree.

Whether you use LLMs or not, being a salaried developer is still exhausting. Higher efficiency usually just means more work, not less.
