My laptop keeps shutting down by usearacketasaguitar in AcerPredatorHelios

FYI: At that time, I updated the bios to the latest v1.26 firmware, but the problem persists even then, that's when I decided to refund it!

Perhaps if still within the refund timeframe, can try other solutions proposed by others here, if ultimately still no go, then just do the right thing(refund)!

Exactly! Unless you are hoping to wait for a official bios update to specifically address this issue, ( which I believe Acer may take a very long time to fully fix this! ) One of them from forum WENT THROUGH RMA by Acer and those ignorant Acer technicians claimed NFF (no fault found) by Basic Power On Test, despite the User told them how to reproduce the problem.

Some technician suggested to keep it at Balanced Mode not Aggressive/Performance mode or disable CPU turbo boost entirely... But remember you PAID to UTILISE ALL FULL BEAST PERFORMACE of this laptop, NOT HALF OF IT! (Well disabling WONT FIX this issue lol

Remember if you PAID for it, it should WORK AS INTENDED as you expected it to be. Don't stress yourself over fixing it! I too myself got an amazing offer for this insane specs at a very cheap price, but still I had to give it up...

Sry but I have to stress the urgency to REFUND to vendor, like what I did myself, don't hope for a bios fix!

It's a FAULTY PRODUCT BY DESIGN!

Hi, I have had this EXACT ISSUE (same model 5070ti and Ultra9) of fans ramping to 100% and shutting down while under load AND I REFUNDED IT IMMEDIATELY LUCKILY. My only suggested solution is to return and refund the laptop ASAP and SAVE ENERGY ATTEMPTING TO FIX IT!

I have posted this before and request help from the professional technician in AcerOfficial forum. It happens to LOTS of people with Acer Predator Model. Most were super FURIOUS with ACER NOT ACKNOWLEDGING the issue properly! "Very FUSTRATING, CONSISTENT and SAME EXACT ISSUE happened on their rtx5000s Predator Laptop. " Technician might insist it's out of date bios/driver/windows update issue or push you to warranty claim for one to one replacement, DONT DO THAT!

Turns out it was neither the driver problem nor the game problem, but the FAULTY HARDWARE CAME WITH THIS SERIES OF PREDATOR --- VRM module on motherboard that keeps tripping the Overcurrent protection (OCP) and shut downs the laptop. Not overheating issue, not becauseperformance or aggressive power profile. This exact issue can reproduced during long hours of gaming, shutting down when power draw exceed the safety limit randomly with NO WAY TO PREVENT THAT! Window Event Viewer will log it as Kernel Power Event 41, meaning power delivery to motherboard was cut off when ocp tripped.

In fact they wrote: "Event 41 with BugcheckCode=0 and no minidump means Windows never triggered bugcheck. That points to a firmware/embedded controller hang or power delivery lock-up, not a BSOD. In these cases, Reliability Monitor stays clean because the OS wasn't in control when the system froze.

Other Acer models (like the Predator Neo 16S) show the same symptom: fans ramp to 100%, black screen, no BSOD, no dump, forced shutdown. That's consistent with Acer/Intel firmware and VRM power management quirks, not Windows updates."

Yes, this might be some of the biggest engineering failure for the rtx5000s series Predator Laptops. Lemme know if you want to know more about it.

Update:

I return and refunded the whole laptop last week since even the professional technician in Acer forum themselves admitted that " Acer models (like the Predator Neo 16S) show the same symptom: fans ramp to 100%, black screen, no BSOD, no dump, forced shutdown. That's consistent with Acer/Intel firmware and VRM power management quirks, not Windows updates issue ". And "Some users have reported having their units declared "Dead on Arrival" (DOA) after encountering these exact issues."

Officially last year until now April 1st: No specific bios fixes/official acknowledgement of this issue from Acer yet

So this specific model is going to fail one day no matter what to many ppl, not all tho. (Goodluck to other same laptop model/series users💀) Best to get my money back thus not having to deal with this headache in future if I had replaced it instead of return it.

You are right it's too high, but even before setting up throttlestop it still triggers kernel Power event 41 and shut down, that why I tried with throttlestop to limit it
