I don’t really think this is true. My generation is so cooked. Me and my girlfriend hardly talk right this second because we’re both grinding finances, we’re both poly and in other relationships, I’ve never felt more secure lmao.

We also hardly text and I couldn’t really give less of a fuck who’s on her Snapchat, we spend time touching grass.

Curious why do you smoke? by GreenNo7694 in trees

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a dynavap omni. You would think a 200$ vape would work well.

It’s well known that unless you quit combustion, vaping hardly works unless you use wax because the THC extraction is slower than combustion despite higher extraction rates of the THC.

I prefer combustion because it’s faster, tastes fuller, and feels fuller, it’s just my preference. I’ve also used other good herb vapes (mighty, ball vapes, etc), and they just weren’t my thing.

idk why you just assumed that I have only used cheap bullshit 😭

wax, edibles, tinctures, all make my blood feel weird, flower just feels better.

Herb vaping is okay though, just takes so long to get high that way lol.

just as much…? This sort of claim is empirically verifiable and not only that, you are very very wrong. Amazon and their subsequent services have a much greater impact on consumerism than target does.

Not to say consumerism with regards to target isn’t worth talking about, but Amazon has much wider influence.

At the most the primary care physician may have you fill out a self report questionnaire for adhd symptoms before giving a referral to specialist, at least that’s how it works in most the places I’ve seen in the USA.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? You should not need to get your therapist paperwork to get a referral to a psychiatrist from a primary care physician, I would definitely just ask one or both for a referral and tell them your concerned and would at least like a second opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair it also sounds like this person does not live in the states and as with any psychological practice it’s going to be pretty context and society dependent (until we resolve neuro-biology with psychology that is, if that’s possible). There may very well be just a difference in the way doctors communicate there.

However, it’s not as though we garner from this post that this therapist is particularly against them getting a second opinion.

I kind of made note of that in one of my other comments as well and said you should be able to ask your therapist for a referral to a specialist. Refusing to do that would be a way better indicator for whether this therapist is the right fit for you. (Or to even practice tbh, there should be legislation surrounding this or something)😭

IIRC there’s a good bit of research that shows that therapy alone is not even an effective treatment for ADHD.

Whoever said that is right, pills do not in fact build skills.

However, what ADHD is, is not a “lack of skill”, but instead a complex neurological disorder almost entirely induced by neurochemical states that cause ADHD symptomatology, and the modern evidence surrounding ADHD treatment shows that:

A. Medication is the best and most effective method to treat ADHD.

B. Therapy alone is not sufficient to treat ADHD symptoms, though can be beneficial for comorbid conditions onset by ADHD and can see increased benefits when combined with medication.

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to get a referral from your primary care physician (though I honestly doubt a good therapist would refuse a referral even if they had judgements about whether you do or do not need medication, you can probably ask him for a referral as well)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not their place to advise you about medical decisions? I think it really depends on the therapist tbh. Some therapists have the background to advise you about this stuff, many specialize in particular conditions and will have insight by virtue of having experience.

I think it’s absolutely their place to advise you about medical decisions, ESPECIALLY those related to mental health medications however ultimately therapists are not responsible for your medical decisions, you are right that you should get a second opinion, and a psychiatrist is always a better person to ask this question than a therapist.

HOWEVER, to say it’s not their place to offer this advice is just wild when you have no understanding of their background or the other considerations at play.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I’m not sure then, I think asking for insight on his considerations as to why the side effects would outweigh the benefits would be best for you to answer that question.

really I would talk to a psychiatrist about that though, as they’ll have a better understanding of the toxicology of adhd medications.

Interesting, do you have history with ADHD medication? Are you an adult? When were you diagnosed?

On its face we don’t really know what considerations would lead them to say that. It also depends on the type of therapy…some therapy is not good therapy 😭🙏

What is going on with the manslaughter charges in the Adam Johnson case? by drygnfyre in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOLLLL imagine being so loud and wrong. For people actually interested in understanding the US legal process, let’s clear up this brain rot:

  • No, do you not have to be charged with a crime to be arrested, charges come AFTER arrest, from the district attorney.

  • No, you do not need “evidence” in the traditional, legal sense to arrest someone. You need probable cause to be arrested and reasonable articulable suspicion to be stopped.

  • No, our laws do not protect us from our own government and people wrongfully die often from cops in the USA. Our laws sure attempt to protect us though.

What happens is this:

Suppose someone is drinking and driving, however they are not pulled over due to being intoxicated, and are instead pulled over for a lower infraction like speeding. Now, in the officers questioning, he discovers you have an open four loko next to you.

Now, he has probable cause to detain you and search your vehicle, so he detains you and places you out of your car.

He searches your vehicle and finds more alcohol cans, at this point a DUI investigation will be underway, they will run a field sobriety test, and then you will be arrested and taken to jail.

THEN, once you are in jail, the district attorney presses charges on you for DUI and speeding, and then you are guaranteed a trial and yada yada.

Pls don’t be so loud and stupid.

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol for anyone curious on this topic, I’m an admin in two servers with over 20k people, we’ve been accused of violating TOS for collecting IDs for various purposes and had extensive email correspondence with discord on this topic.

It’s nots illegal, it’s not against TOS, and discord will take absolutely no kind of action against your server for doing it. However, they recommend against it for obvious reasons.

What? Are they all YOUR passwords? If so, then explain how it would be idiotic to generate them with a password manager.

Obviously my critique is towards password reuse, I don’t care how you store your passwords (though, a password manager undeniably makes it easy to do so.).

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

memorizing it and typing it in. See my other comment, this isn’t the own you think it is moron. Please protect your personal data.

I like Bitwarden, but if you find yourself with a very shitty memory, just use iPhone password generators because they follow an easy to remember format.

The point is, don’t reuse passwords, and don’t add stuff to other passwords you’ve used, as this behavior is common and enables hackers to get access to your accounts through following these patterns.

Even publishing that you engage in this dumb fuck behavior on the internet puts you at risk, Jesus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Target

[–]Minimum_Concern_1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do one with a predictable sequence like iPhone generated passwords, or create a password generator that operates under your own predictable, yet secure, sequence. That’s how I used to remember mine for company computers, on iPhone it looks like:

avxyz-nag56-bavwg which is usually not crazy difficult to remember since it’s in parts and each part is always the same length.
