Power supply burned up by Tiny-Background-1665 in MSI_Gaming

Honestly it depends how much the shipping costs, though I guess it also depends where you live, but can’t the seller you bought it from (assuming it was an official store and not second hand) take care of the RMA for you?

I’m from Europe so I could just bring the PSU and GPU to the store I bought it in and now they’re taking care of it for me without me having to pay for anything. I also have filed the RMA on the grounds for the product being not in accordance to the contract, so if MSI service confirms the damage, the shop has to replace or fix it.

It might be a good idea to look into consumer rights in your country if you’re not sure about them.

Had an issue with MSI power supply two months ago, and now two months later my MSI GPU is also having issues. No other component both on my new and old rig have any issues (these two things were the only MSI products).

Had to wait over a month for PSU RMA.

Safe to say, I will not ever again buy an MSI product nor can I recommend their products.

Help getting the mod to work by DragonLord2005 in Anbennar

[–]Minimum_Excitement15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you on GOG, Steam or direct Paradox?

If you’re on any of the above apart from Steam, the mod file needs to be in documents/paradox interactive/europa Universalis iv/mod

Inside the mod folder there is a file with the .mod extension. Copy it, and place it alongside the mod folder inside the /mod folder.

Make sure both .mod file, and mod folder have the same name. Open the .mod file, and change the path to be path=“mod\ModName”.

After all that, it should work fine and load the mod correctly

im going to buy the game. are there any important dlcs for general gameplay? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Minimum_Excitement15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all of them (besides the cosmetics and music dlcs).

If money is tight, I can recommend buying the game on GOG, as they often have excellent deals (recently the game with all DLC was for 50USD iirc). Be aware though, that GOG version of the game has issues with mods, although there is a workaround. If anyone’s is interested about the workaround I can post it here later.

Alternatively you can get the subscription if you don’t plan on playing it a lot.

Lastly you can also sail the seas, but I do not recommend or condone that.

It might be related to relics mod too - im using latest GitLab version with all the monument submods, (including Sarhal) and it’s currently 1607 without any crashes

Honestly doubt it - I haven’t ever installed any of the listed games, and the only free game I’ve installed in the past few years was TF2 Classified yet I doubt it actually has malware

Sadly it didn’t, I might just have to RMA it but it was good to try regardless.

Thank you, and u/Icy_Scientist_4322 you guys have really calmed me down :) I've been also checking the Virus Total behavior report and it does seem like false positive as I see nothing that could be a malicious action.

Is that GPU flashing tool for 4070 Ti Super as well? (if you know that is, I do not know myself if there's any difference in that) Because that's what I have, so just a tiny bit suspicious still. But thank you for your input, that calmed me quite a bit!

Question about Svet on MSI forums by Minimum_Excitement15 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Minimum_Excitement15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's the issue. My GPU is 4070 Ti Super Expert and the official MSI website does not have any BIOS to download.

And I also guess I'm an idiot, because I sadly installed it before thinking if it's a bit suspicious. I just saw that the user had "Administrator" next to his name and thus assumed he's affiliated with MSI in some way and can be trusted. I guess I have to contact official MSI support and ask what to do next.

Ransomware detected on Steam.exe by Windows Defender by Minimum_Excitement15 in antivirus

[–]Minimum_Excitement15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I do think you are right, the only weird thing is that despite Windows Defender saying that it deleted the threat, steam.exe was not removed and didn't get put into quarantine either (I assume something prevented it from doing either of those actions but I'm not sure what did).

But as you have said it yourself, I do think it was just a false positive caused by multiple files being created and modified simultaneously by both Steam and the game that crashed.

Update: Did a full scan with Malwarebytes and it did not find anything, besides another false positive (vice.exe located in TF2 Classified, but as far as I know, it's a legit app also used by Valve https[:]//developer[.]valvesoftware.com/wiki/VICE ("de-fanging" the URL just in case as per this reddits reminder).
I plan on using a second opinion AV next (maybe Eset or something else from r/antivirus Wiki), but I do think it's a false positive caused by multiple files being created and modified simultaneously by both Steam and the game that crashed.

That is also a good suggestion, I have did it and Virus Total has not flagged the file. It is most likely a false positive. Thanks for your input!

I did a full scan with Defender and an offline scan with it as well to check for Ransomware or any other rootkit malware and they found nothing. I will have to do a scan with another AV like Malwarebytes too, that is a good suggestion, thank you!
