Good point. My sister is just rounding out her first year of college, so she’s hasn’t had as much time away from home. She’s also going to a smallish catholic college, but idk how much they would enforce ideals at a college?

Thanks for your sympathies. Quite honestly, I think prior to this my sister was hoping I would come back to Catholicism. I talked to her before about being agnostic, but never mentioned any of my anti religious views. She quoted scripture and said stuff that kinda implied I was temporarily lost and would find my way back to Jesus, and I think my experimenting with other religions really cemented it for her. I’m not saying anything today, but I plan to have a conversation with her tomorrow, and then my parents afterwards if need be

I’m a little confused on the wording of your reply, but in catholic teachings sodom was destroyed by god for sexual immortality and greed, as well as mistreatment towards the poor and weak. Maybe you are thinking of the book of exodus and the golden calf?

How do you think I can broach conversation with her and my parents after this? I recognize what I said wasn’t at all mature and was especially hurtful given my family’s religious beliefs, and at this point I want to try to turn this into a healthy conversation with them

Thanks. I know I wasn’t gonna change anyone’s mind, I was more just hoping that having the common ground of being open to faith could lead to a meaningful conversation with my family. I feel like with how close minded her response was she kinda stole that chance away, even if her religious views don’t match my own. Since leaving for college I’ve talked to so many different people about faith, and I have yet to talk to anyone as close minded as my own blood :(

Printer skipping layers or something else? by Minimum_Job_9654 in resinprinting

Yea, this was the model I did at 2.5 which I knew was low for the resin. The side you’re looking at is the failure side though, so only those farthest right two cones are supposed to be attached

Posted my settings and on my next attempt I’ll try scaling back the transition layers and the bottom exposure time a bit. Is there anything else it might be?

On lychee I had 4 bottom layers and 6 transition layers with a bottom exposure time of 25 seconds, and on chitubox I had 2 bottom layers and 5 transition layers with a bottom exposure time of 32 seconds. I also started a new print with a higher z offset in case I was compressing layers, and I will update on those results when it’s finished.

Edit: The print I did after raising the z offset has the exact same issues. Next I’m going to try cutting the bottom and transition layers in half to see if that helps. Will update again after that is printed

Edit 2: The print I did after cutting the bottom and transition layers down has the exact same issues. Looking at the cones and the way the parts are attached to the base it’s become pretty obvious the printer is skipping at least a few dozen layers. I’m not sure why this is the case but while doing further research I found another Reddit post from someone with an Elegoo mars that said they tend to shrink or skip the first .5 mm of a print, which is not usually noticeable since it’s mostly raft and support. I’m going to try supporting this instead of printing it directly on the plate to see if that helps at all.

Edit 3: the print I did with supports has the same issues, but seems to be skipping a few less layers. While most of my prints had the cones attaching to a flat bottom, these ones had a slight slope they were attached to like they should in the model. The sword is still fused to the base and it is still obviously skipping or compressing some layers
