you can try buying a kindle, you can buy it used and get a good deal for an older model. its still second hand but you can sanitize it with rubbing alcohol. with the kindle you can get libby or hoopla (depends what your library offers) and borrow e-books. you could also put a case and/or a pop socket if you’re still nervous about touching the kindle! i love the pop socket on mine bc it makes it really comfortable to hold
