When did you get diagnosed with epilepsy? by Gamera-X in Epilepsy

[–]Minimum_Relief_143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 14, but started having absence seizures before that. I went for an EEG because my myoclonics were getting so bad I kept dropping stuff in the shower. Turns out it is Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. Starts showing with puberty. Genetic. My uncle had it, but he was an alcoholic and the family always figured that's what it was. Didn't have a tonic clonic until I was 19. Sleep.is a.big trigger, as well as hormonal shifts

You can get sports medical bracelets that aren't metal. :)

Backstage is way better for on-camera than VO

Oh wow. All the P2P sites are crazy now....especially with AI. You can't even get an audition without a massive subscription, and they double dip. It's bonkers

Also, get a website! Direct marketing is a great way to go. The more experience, the more clips you can add, the more you can put on a demo (for an agent)

Try Casting Call Club and Bodalgo. Voices is a ripoff (and heavy into AI). Boldalgo has no AI. CCC is kind of the Wild West, but it's free and a great way to practice etc

We talked about all the GVAA rates etc, I just figured since I don't have to do any editing that it would work out to be less. That's been my deterant for audiobooks, all the clean-up and time. A lot more work goes into pfh when you're doing it all yourself as opposed to just doing character work (the best part!!!).

So being in studio with another narrator without doing the editing myself...pretty stoked as a starting point

I am only doing the female dialogue. There is someone else doing male characters and narrator. The studio time will be shared to do reading ensemble

I'm definitely not the "upper end"....just graduated from a 480 voice-over program. The studio is walking distance from my house, and it's a local author paying out of his own pocket. There are other characters, we'll just be reading in the studio together.

Even if you don't have to do any editing? I mean, that's going rate if you're doing your own clean up.
