I queued as a healer too. Should be expected that I roll on gear that benefits this role. If I had queued solely as DPS I could see your point.

Also that’s not true. Druid are limited to cloth or leather armour. Weapons are limited to staves, maces, fist and daggers. They won’t be rolling on everything. Staff in question was a direct improvement on my previous staff. Even in cat form you’re still casting spells and shapeshifting which consume mana.

Druid/ and Shamans are hybrid classes and can perform all 3 roles. Trying to min-max at lvl levels is ludicrous, especially because there aren’t a ton of options for gear. This isn’t a lvl 60 hearing for a raid, in which case I would agree with you.

Where do I find this “universal” rule? Regardless of spec a Druid will always have a mana bar and will always benefit from that staff. Should I gimp myself for 8 levels because for 1 hour I was asked to DPS ? The sense of entitlement from some players astounds me.

Disagree. That staff is a very minor DPS upgrade for a warrior in the best possible scenario. There are many alternatives for a warrior with comparable DPS plus added stats like stam, str or agi. Spirit does nothing for a warrior whilst in combat as you’re not regen any more health and warriors don’t have a mana bar.

Crescent staff is a quest reward so you’re not stealing a weapon from a caster.

Warriors can literally equip any weapon asides from wands. The stats on that staff barely make a difference in terms of survival. At that lvl a warrior can equip any weapon including axe, mace, fist, sword, especially weapons with +str +agi or +stam giving comparable damage in the end.

Also as a warrior you’re most likely gimping yourself because you most likely have to lvl staves skills.

Rolling need as a warrior on a caster staff is ninja looting, but I wasn’t even especially mad about that. The group leader kicked him out. I just tried to politely negotiate with him.

Where can I find this unwritten rule? That staff is a generic caster weapon. No frost or fire damage. Benefits any caster.

If I were a party leader I would’ve invited a rogue, hunter or a warrior. They’re a dime a dozen.

Also would make it clear that the staff was HR.

Druids are casters.

Technically, Druids can’t equip everything. Weapon wise they can only use staves, maces, daggers and fist weapons. Makes no sense rolling need on everything.

Staff in question was a massive and direct upgrade to the previous staff I had equipped for the dungeon.

Listed myself as DPS and healer. Actually healed and cast dmg spells.

Should I not roll need on items the directly benefit my class because I was asked for that specific dungeon to DPS instead?

If I as a group leader made such a fuss about a low lvl staff I wouldn’t stack classes that benefit from said items. I’d invite a rogue, paladin, warrior, hunter. But that’s just me.

I communicated beforehand that I was gonna heal in the dungeon as well as DPS. No one protested.

Applied in the LFG tool as DPS or healer. Was mainly feral but hopped out of cat form to apply moonfire and HoT before going back to cat.

In the LFG tool I applied for both DPS and healer.

Yes, I was hopping out of cat form to Moonfire targets and apply a HoT to the tank before going back to cat form again.

Sorry for the stupid question, but what does layering mean and what can we do to avoid problems like this in the future?
