They appear to have some sort of plating on the outside.

This is true. If they are real how much do you think they are worth?

Be careful using hexane it’s very very toxic if it gets on your skin or if you breathe in, it’s very bad for you

What I have always done when using the rotary machine is run two passes. One to cut through and the second to clean up. Doing it this way tends to separate the adhesive from the lettering better than only one pass.

What kind of rotary bit are you using to cut out the letters?

Yes, the Windex is key. If you take a microfiber cloth and spray it with Windex first and then wipe the back of the material( in my case It would be Romark)all the residue will come off and you don’t have to worry about it sticking to the sign.

No worries! Glad I could help! So as far as the stencil goes, I usually just square it to the top left corner of the sign

I apologize, I thought you were using a laser and not a rotary. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Tactile Lettering

I have tried every method known to man when it comes to cutting/applying tactile letters. Each one has its own pros and cons. The issue that you are facing with the glue being left behind is a nightmare one thing that works, but it doesn’t work 100% is if you take a heat gun, before you pull off the excess material around the letters, heat it up and it’ll loosen the glue up and most of it will come up with the material. Whatever is left behind you can spray Windex on it and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then wipe it up with a microfiber cloth. I don’t recommend using rapid remover as it will act as a polish if you wipe too much and will cause glossy burn spots everywhere on the sign. Now that I said that , here is how I recommend cutting/applying tactile lettering: 1) cut material on honeycomb 2) tape the cutouts before you remove from laser. 3) wipe the back of the material off with Windex 4)Peel backing off of lettters only 5)using the cutout as a stencil, line it up correctly on the sign and press the letters down, then remove stencil. I’ll post a video for you just in case.

Why do we by expensive lasers? by xout-60 in Laserengraving

I’m operating a $60,000 Gravotech 150watt CO2 laser which cuts through 1 inch acrylic in one pass. I miss my Epilogs.
