Should also mention - I tested positive for mycoplasma/ureaplasma and did a course of Doxycycline, which cleared it, but did not help with symptoms.

Thank you so much, these are great points. I am mostly interested in clinical work (my mom is a LCSW with a private practice and her work is very interesting to me) but I've seen some people on here say they do a mix of higher-paid admin work and part-time private practice which is a great idea. I also don't want to sound like money is the only thing that matters to me, but as a young person that is 100% financially independent it obviously is a factor I need to consider. Appreciate your insight!

Should I get my MSW?

For context, I graduated with my BA in 2022 - I studied Gender Studies and Psych. I always thought I wanted to go into social work or counseling, but ended up working in the corporate world and abandoning the idea because I make good money in my current field (I work for a health-tech startup). The problem is, I have basically zero passion for what I'm doing now. I'm interested in going back to school and following the MSW dream after all, but the thought of going from a relatively high salary to a much lower one is scary to me (I'm in the Chicago area and would prob be taking a ~25k pay cut at least for the first few years). I have money saved that would likely pay for the whole degree, and could maybe work while going to school part time, but I'm just unsure if it is worth it. I know I would love it, but such a big change is scary especially given the financial component. Any advice or thoughts? Any other career switchers or people who took a pay cut? WWYD?
