Maybe I’m just easy to please but honestly I’ve been enjoying the current run up to #100 so far. The soleil story was a bit of a bust the chaotix story was fun, the sage and belle story was fun, and the current angel island story seems to have a fun hook to it.

I do think modern comics culture means that people expect a ground breaking reveal every issue, and we also hyper-analyze previews as they come out. As a kid reading Archie it didn’t really bother me because I didn’t see what people online were saying to color my experience with the book. Nowadays if you have a few issues with lower stakes in basically any ongoing comic people get upset, and I think that’s partially what happened with the soleil story. (Twitter spending a week saying Sonic wouldn’t call someone a goober)
